Can't go from Riva to KR808D-1

What was I thinking? When I initially ordered my PV I was split between an ecig that looked the most like an analog and one that had gotten rave reviews for newbies. I ordered a Riva for the reviews and KR808 for the look alike. I recieved my Riva last Thursday and have been happily vaping ever since with 0 analogs. My KR808 finally arrived and I can honestly say I probably wouldn't have been successful at quitting or continued on the ecig journey if I would have recieved this device first. I hate it. I know hate is a strong word but for me it's like I have been eating steak for the past few days and then someone handed me dogfood.

I ordered it from inhaler waiting to hear back from owner to see if I can exchange it for another Riva but man I'm so very disappointed as I really thought that this device would be a little better than what it is.

Don't feel too bad, I fell for a spur of the moment purchase while at my local smoke shop. They got one of them new "electronic cigarettes" on display. It was a Elektro, simply another 808 variation that looks like a cigarette. Well if it was not for that crappy ecig I wouldn't be here now. I ordered a Janity ECig after reading rave reviews from every one and their mother on another forum.

Just curious, what is so terrible about 808?
I have my VK for about 1 month and over all happy with it.
Wow/Premium cartos do the trick and when I want better kick, there is PT.

I'm trying to find out if there is any difference (btw Ego/Riva and 808) other than battery life.
Is there?

I'm not trying to defend the model, I just really want to know if there is a difference.

I have the eGo and started with the KR808D1. I use both the KR8 AND the eGo, mainly to have several flavors to choose from at once.

When I ordered my initial KR8, I did not order it from V4L. After comparing my friend's batt that he ordered from V4L with the one I had, I quickly discovered that not all KR8's are created equal. I ordered a manual batt from V4L and voila- with that, I was getting excellent vape with little effort.

For me, other than the battery life, the main difference between the eGo and the KR8 is the versatility of the eGo. You can use 510 and 808 cartos on it (with an adapter), drip, or do the cart and atty thing. And I love that the eGo stands upright for dripping.

I guess I should have expanded a bit instead of just saying it's awful. With my Riva I can really taste the eliquid, get a great vapor and it feels like I am smoking.
When I tried the KR808 I was very disappointed. I used the same eliquid in the cartomizer and it was just BLAH. Maybe I have just been spoiled with the Riva but there is definitely a difference in the vaping experience. I also like the fact that I can have so many different carts pretty inexpensively and swap them out. (Although I'm not sure how much a cartomizer will cost). Maybe my experience would have been different if I didn't have the Riva to compare it to but I'm sure glad I did. I'm glad you are satisfied with yours though.

This may very well have something to do with my experience. It could just be the unit and not necessarily the model...

I use a KR808D-1 mega batt (380mAh) coupled to a LR (low resistance) 510 atty via a thread adapter.
I also have an array of eGo and eGo clone (Riva etc) batts but I much prefer the feel and balance of the KR8 and I swear it produces better vapor. I believe the KR8 bat voltage is a true 3.7V while the eGo might be closer to 3.3V. It seems to make a difference.

There are LR 901 attys for the KR8 batts that screw on directly but they're a little expensive and harder to find. I recommend trying one before you bury your KR8 in a drawer.

Nothing wrong with the KR808. I've noticed that personally I like to wrap my finger around the thread area as it gives me a better throat hit, sometimes vapor, and/or flavor. Others prefer to open their mouth a little when inhaling for a better hit. My opinion is that the KR808 takes some testing to find out how to vape effectively with it, so it is more to your tastes. But that really does not take much effort or knowledge. Which is why changing from way you'd normally vape when using the KR808 can/could be beneficial.

I've noticed differences in juices too. Some PG/VG mixes are better with as much air as possible. Other juices I have to block the thread area partially. Same applies to flavor. Coolcarts I do without the finger wrap at the threads. Premium and WOW carts depends on the juice, and regular carts generally I finger wrap around some of the air holes where the threads meet. Changing how much air goes in when vaping actually makes a difference for me. Might not for someone else. It is as straight forward as can be. The only way I can explain the difference with the 'finger wrap' would be someone who smokes Newport trying to smoke a Capri or a Virginia Slim. Feels like dragging on a straw. Where someone who doesn't vape the same might find blocking makes it too potent. All comes down to personal preference. Less air in most cases makes a better hit for me.

Personally I like the KR808. For a 'to-go' ecig it is very resilient, but that is only opinion. It is also my go-to recommendation for introducing people to vaping and my go-to for people "on the run" because of the battery life. I am often on the go and sometimes vape heavily at work when it gets stressful. I also ordered through V4L and have the auto. If you have an auto, then take a few primer puffs.

You should go check out the KR808 model specific forum and see what some of the feedback on experience is over there. :)

Thanks for explaining some possible ways to improve my experience. I can see how this is very close to the analog experience with it' s orm factor and It sounds like a little more trial and error are required before making my final ruling. I'm still happy that my Riva was good to go out of the box but I will be perusing the 808 thread for sure. I already have a pink Riva on the way and nhaler was nice enough to work with me with my KR device. I'll keep you guys posted.
