Can't seem to get my Bulli to work right

Hey friends!

I got my first rba on Tuesday.....yay for the Bulli! I got the SS ta version, not the mega. It's really nice, well built, and looks phenomenal. However, while I am a two year vaper, I am a rebuildables virgin, lol. I am having some issues.

Coil wrapping is no problem, I have built 4 of them that all ohm out at 2.1-2.3. Perfect range for me. I cannot for the life of me get a good tasting vape! It always tastes burnt. I check the silica wick and it is wet. What am I doing wrong?? I really really want to make this work. I refuse to give up on it. Please help me!!

I am using 32 kanthal, silica wick, and 325 SS mesh.

Yeah, I used to think the same about mine. I vaped manufactured coils at 2.0-2.5 and when I rebuilt, I metered my rebuildables at that... maybe a 6/7 wrap. I went back online and started reading... if you like LR try just doing a 4/5 wrap. Maybe it's my meter but it comes out at 1.5 - 0.2 (for the meter leads) = 1.3 and that seems to work better, no matter at 3.2 or 3.7V. I just use the meter now to make sure the ohm's reading is stable... if the numbers bounce around, it's cause you got a loop too close to another... and that'll make more than a burnt taste...

Sounds to me like you have a "hot spot" somewhere on yer coil. Sometimes this is from shorting but if you are having rock solid resistance on yer coil then we can prolly rule that out.

Hot spots can also show up if there is one or more parts of the coil that are not close enough to the wick to keep juice on them. If so, then that part of the coil can can dry out and start turning red and you get that burn taste. Try to get each coil evenly spaced and make sure there is no "daylight" between the wick and each wrap of the coil.

I freshly built coil needs time to "break-in", sometimes upwards to 5ml or more of juice before it starts working optimally. Residues on resistance wire and wick materials can affect the taste slightly until it is "seasoned". Some of my coils don't taste exactly right until I get about 1-2ml through them then they are awesom for a godd week or so.

This could also be due to a wick not wicking well. You will dry out the coil and get burned taste if the wicking can't keep up with the rate that the juice is being vaporized. The coil could possibly be wrapped too tight around the wick and sorta choking it or the wick might need to be a bigger diameter. No hard easy answer to that one, it's a fine line getting the wick to replace liquid as quick as it's being used without flooding it, just something you would have to mess with until it's right for you. I hate the burn taste so much that I build my wicks and coils right to the edge of flooding, I would rather deal with a flooding wick than risk that dang dry hit....

Keep at it, I am a 3 year vapor and just got into rebuildables a few months ago...........never will I go back

I was never able to get my bulli to work well. Its a shame as it looks so dam nice and actually closes on my darwin.

Im not really a fan of the the Plastic Mouthpiece either. I wish it had its own proprietary tank on top for a regular drip tip.

I was never able to get it to wick properly. One of these days Im going to break it out and give it another go.

On the other hand I finally got my DUD genisis working fairly well last night!!

A lot of people really like the bullies though once you get it set up properly.
