Can't set an avatar pic...need some help

For some reason, I seem unable to update my profile with an avatar image. In my control panel, it shows the photo I've selected, but I don't see an avatar image in any of my posts. Any thoughts?

Hi! How did you get the avatar to work? I made my quit meter from smoke free's website, too but it gives me an "invalid file" error when I try to use the url they gave me.

Avatars have to be under a certain size and most likely have to be the correct file type as well (png, jpg, etc)

The quit meter is for a signature, not a profile or avatar image.
