It won't be long before the only place to legally light-up will be
outside the city limits provided you are no closer than 5 miles
from the nearest farmhouse and no closer than 1 mile from
the nearest cow.

There has to be a "breaking point" somewhere...
not only for those who smoke but also for the tobacco industry.

Your thoughts?

Around here in the Houston area the clubs & bars that still are able to allow smoking inside are still very much alive and kicking. The others hampered by the various non-smoking ordinances are hurting big time or folding entirely.

Some have converted their buildings, if they can, to an "ice house" affair, which means the room must have at least 1 big retractable garage door open to the outside air in order to allow smoking in the same space. In effect it's a All Smoking allowed within or in an additional room, or outside area plus a NON-smoking air temp controlled area for customers.

vaping, which is NOT forbidden by city ordinances so far, would allow these hampered bars to bring their customers back, IMO.

I haven't read the entire forum so I feel a little awkward weighing in on this without having read more but I have read several threads and the Campaigning Forum in particular interests me. The thing I wanted to say is this. You would think after what happened in the 1920s and 30s with Prohibition the "anti" crowd would realize it doesn't work. While there has not yet been, to my admittedly limited knowledge, even serious discussion of an outright ban on the production and sale of tobacco products the anti crowd seem more determined to move us toward a practical ban. While the sales would continue (so that revenue can be collected)what would the point be of buying a product you can't use anywhere?

They want to reap the benefits of taxing the crap out of smokers but prevent them from smoking in public. It would piss me off to the max. But now I could care less. I vape wherever I want to. When told "You can't smoke in here!", I reply, Yes I know and I am not. If they complain I will try to explain and if they get arrogant, I tell them then need to be educated before they open their mouth. I try to keep some general info printed on paper to hand to them with facts and references for them to look up. I don't try to start an argument but if it come to it I want to be armed with information to back me up. I think I may be getting of topic or not on topic to start. I apologize.
