Can't Vape That

I tried BOTH of the juice flavors I got today, and euuuuch. Is it possible that i don't like tobacco? My first bottle was from the regular cigarette store and was just labeled "menthol" and I liked it fine. Then I went looking for things similar to Newport and got some of the DeKang Nuport and some stuff from the local shop that's menthol tobacco flavored, and I REALLY dislike them.

They taste like having tobacco in my mouth, or sort of like a pipe smells (but not the good smoke part, more sort of a perfumey acrid note) and they leave an unpleasant taste afterwards.

So I'm wondering if the "menthol" juice is really just that, not menthol tobacco like I assumed, and maybe that's what I like. Maybe I just need to buy the base and add a little menthol to it and use that....it would be a cheap way to go!

In the meantime I got to go buy another bottle of the generic menthol from the cigarette store to get me through 'cos I can't vape what I got...

Would steeping the DeKang change its flavor?

I've heard hit and miss with DeKang juices...I stay away from tobacco flavors anyways, as I don't want to be reminded of the real thing. I recently purchased some 12 flavors from one company and found I did not like any of them, nor did my wife so it wasn't just me. You could be experiencing the same thing...maybe that company puts something in their liquids that just doesn't tickle your fancy.

I have never used Dekang juices, so I can't answer the steeping part of your post. I mostly just wanted to chime in and say that I have found most places label menthol for menthol only and menthol tobacco for juice similar menthol-like cigarettes. This isn't everywhere of course. H
Also, I started out trying menthol tobacco liquids since I was a menthol smoker, but I never found one I even remotely liked. If you find a good one let me know! I switched over to bakery juices and didn't really like them either. I didn't think I'd like fruit flavors, but I love them. Its always worth while to try juices that don't actually sound appealing to you since you just never know what will end up working for you.

That being said, there are a lot of people who use tobacco juices that can recommend ones they like!

I was a menthol smoker. I only used menthol liquids for a few weeks. Tried mixing menthol and tobacco and it just wasn't working for me. Then I tried spearmint, cinnamon (use in a glass tank!) and peppermint. I've fallen into creamy flavors and bakery flavors for now. Occasionally I'll take a few puffs of a tobacco flavor. It's kinda like my spumoni vape, for lack of better terms. For the last 2+ months I've been using an orange vanilla ice cream blend, a creme de menthe and also lemon creme puff. YUMMY

You'll never find an e-liquid flavor that "tastes" like a cigarette. There's no way to duplicate the taste of burning tobacco leaves and smoke. Many have tried, and all have failed.

Focus finding another flavor that you can like. There's literally hundreds to choose from. Try a menthol, a fruit, a candy or desert, a coffee, etc.

Tip: Exhale some of the vapor from your nose. Your nose plays a big part in distinguishing flavors from e-liquid flavors.

One of the things you'll find out if you already haven't is that it's hard to mimic a particular cigarette as a vape. You won't find anything to the best of my knowledge that taste like a Newport. If I am wrong, believe me, a gazillion people will chime right in.
If you're looking for tobacco type vapes of good quality then they'll chime in with that too. I prefer deserts and fruit.

You may have answered your own question......I tried a straight base with pure menthol drops, and it turned into my All Day Vape, I do DIY some other simple flavors (coffee is another good alternative to tobacco) but still vape my pure menthol everyday.

I vaped tobacco flavors for the first two weeks or so. Then, suddenly, they were just horrid. Moved to coffees and rich desserts. Still like those. And since starting DIY, I tend to like more natural fruits and complex flavors. I think as we become non-smokers we tend to view tobacco as the "enemy", or maybe it's just my taste buds healing after 20-plus years of abuse.

I started vaping the base with menthol added to it,but I found myself vaping just the 0 nic menthol more, almost chain vaping. Probably because of the o nic in it. I just order 6mg nic menthol maybe I wouldn't chain vape. I would love to try different flavors, but in my opition the sampler pack bottle are too large. The smallest i've found are 10ml at a cost of $6. That's a bit much if I end up not liking it to the point where I couldn't stand it. Anyway try adding menthol to your base until you get the menthol taste you like.

Not a big tobacco flavor fan myself. I'm slowing discovering my equilibrium between the fruit and minty flavors I like and the throat hit that's often lacking in them. So far I've only found one that gives both, a dreamsickle from Vape Dojo, not to say I don't like other flavors but most of the lighter flavors just don't have the throat hit. I did finally place an order from Mt. Baker today and I have a huge package of goodies from The Vape Room hopefully arriving tomorrow so I still have a lot of experimenting to do. All I know is the reason something tastes like tobacco is because it's tobacco so why make something that's not tobacco taste like tobacco? I do have one jar of a menthol that's pretty good but it's straight menthol, not tobacco menthol.

Okay, I went and bought another bottle of the menthol I liked from the local smoke shop, and now I'm going to order some nicotine base and menthol drops from Mt Baker. The bottle is TWO HUNDRED THIRTY SIX ML, that's an insane amount. At the rate I seem to go through it that's a three month supply. Wow!
Will it keep for three months? It says a cool dark place, is the fridge the best place for it?
I know there's a DIY forum here, but when I visited it, it looked like folks were mixing from pure nicotine, that's farther than I really want to go. ;)
Thanks for all the information, folks. You guys are great. Who'd a thunk I wouldn't like tobacco? Does make me think that I might even like the fruity stuff, although my head says it sounds just awful. Obviously there's quite a learning curve with this stuff.

When I dumped the tank of the DeKang stuff I finally figured out what it tasted like that I really disliked, and now I'm reading here that it may be common: it's maple syrupy. I can't stand maple flavored stuff. That sort of explains it.
I guarantee that Newports do NOT taste like maple syrup, ever!
I'm staying with the straight menthol. I will not waffle. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
Now I'm reading about PG/VG ratios, since that's a choice I have to make when buying the nicotine base.
I will try the coffee at some point, though!
