It still continues at my work. Some jerk face from IT kept assuring me that PG was not safe to vape as he puffed on his cigarette. I assured him that it was. The guy then says that he just was in some meeting where PG was discussed as unsafe?????? I know, I'm wondering what meeting he was in where such a topic came up, but he said it none the less. He then said I should "Look it up on Wikipedia" no less. So I pulled out my trusty smartphone and proved him wrong right then and there. I pulled up Wikipedia since that was the source he chose (for God knows what reason) and it proved him incorrect. He was a real snide ... about it too when I did it. I'm thinking "What? You think IT are the only ones in the building with smartphones thinking I can't call you on this stuff?" Then I asked him if he wanted me to look up how safe his cigarette was on Wikipedia, and that shut his mouth for good.
My God! I just never know what I'm gonna encounter on my smoke break.
Now I think I've pretty much told everyone in my department about the ecig. So now most of my conversations revolve around what flavor I'm smoking (inquiring minds wanna know) and how I'm doing since I haven't smoked an analog in weeks.
This other jerky older woman who is a manager is also out there taking her usual 30 smoke breaks a day compared to my 2. So she hear's me having to explain the ecig a lot and she is acting annoyed hearing me have to repeat myself over and over. She says snide things like "You sure you don't sell these things?!" and "Oh he's their spokesperson!" I really don't know who this "they" is that she refers to. Maybe she thinks there is only one manufacturer in the world who sells ecigs or maybe she is referring to us? Regardless, I wish she would just save the peanut gallery comments when I'm explaining my PV to a wide eyed smoker looking for salvation. I feel like telling her that she wouldn't hear my spiel so much if she spent more time in the building working than constantly being out here smoking. It annoys me so much that she gets to have a cigarette any time she feels like it while the rest of us have to suffer indoors choosing wisely are precious 2 times a day. I think maybe she is getting envious that there is a very real possibility that I might be able to smoke my ecig at my desk since one of my supervisors is very interested in the ecig and plans on going to upper management and advising them that I should be allowed to vape at my desk which would then mean I will have an advantage that even the managers don't have. I really hope that day comes cause I'm gonna blow my vapor all in her direction.

I was out with a smoker co worker, he was sucking butts I had my 510 standard battery lightly fogging around.

Some anti smoker walked by and came up to me, I do not look all that approachable. and started in on how vaping was bad enough that the AG banned them. She went on to blab about how is smelled just like smoke. (.... sucker was cupping his .....)

I laughed whiped out the silverbullet and fogged the area around me, took a deep sniff and said "hmm smells like Tiramisu to me, take a sniff!" She did said sorry and went along her way.
Later that day standing outside the sushi place I was pouring steam out of my SB in a bag around my neck.

A grumpy codger did that cough routine and waved his hand in front of his face like they did when I was smoking.
He berated me for using it and how it would kill me faster than cigs. I asked him to hang tight a second, grabbed my napkins, .... sucker coworker came up and I asked to take a drag from his american spirit. I did the blowing into the napkin with analog vs. digital "smoke".
Thank god he asked me if I had success and info after that demo. Seems his grandkids are smoking and asked for the napkin to show them.

It seems the more the SB is used no one cares to say anything, but put it in cig form and they FLIP!

I Just had the BEST public pv encounter.

I was chilling at the benches near work on lunch, this super smoking hot lady kinda snickered as she walked by.
I explained what it was and how it worked... She was all "oh I was thinking of OTHER smokables! Oh is that coco scented?"

I got to show off my SB, the juice and gave her a few cards from various people. She was super interested in getting her dad set up with a PV.

I get kinda tired of people asking me what im smoking. Most of the time i dont have time to stop and explain it to them. I told the last few people i was smoking crack out of it and they didnt ask anymore questions. but of course i did tell them that i was just kidding. they will find out one day what it really was when vaping becomes more popular. they will say "thats what that ....... was smoking"
'

ahahahha thats a good one, made me choke on my vapor!

I've only been vaping for 3 days, and I've already had to do the whole lecture at school, at a Halloween party, to my entire family, and my girlfriends family. Probably given my little demo about 12-15 times in the short time I've been vaping.

I like it! Maybe because I've always been a charismatic person but it's more than that. These things have already changed my life, and I'm developing a passion for them, not an obsession, but a genuine passion. PVs have an amazing power, prolonging life, and I believe that my life is too short and precious to cut my years down by smoking analogs when there is a very satisfying substitute out there. Forget that it saves money, and all the other great benefits, IT HELPS YOU LIVE LONGER. Enough said.

I look at it like this: I am a representative of the E-cig community. I have an incredible power, to help people make a life changing decision, and I really try to show them all the great things about it. I wouldn't say it's my responsibility, because that were all obligated to give non stop lectures. But personally, I would say it's my duty to help all the cigarette smokers I know find this lifesaver and start adding years to their life rather than cutting them.

It is hard to debate with people though, of course their are always the skeptics who are so afraid of the unknown, they attack it. Too perplexed(lol) by the mechanics, some people will reject it, and that's fine, you can lead a cow to water but you can't make it drink. The FDA really isn't helping our case either, but it's pretty obvious as to why they don't want this product to prosper. ($$$$$$)

I'm really not trying to toot my own horn with this post, and I'm not saying you have to explain it to everyone, if you don't wanna then don't, it doesn't make you a bad person or any of that crap. I just find it personally satisfying when I tell somebody and they get excited about it.

We could really change the world. :)

Edit: Oh. And I've ran across the snobs too, it's alright guys they have to exist so good people like us can look good ;). If they want to get into a big argument or make a big deal about it I simply just brush them off. I let them know all I was trying to do was give some info, and if they don't want it, they don't need to take it. All we can do is inform, if they wanna stick to their cigs than let them, nobody vaping should think they are better than somebody smoking, most all of us here were there at one point.
Second Edit: This story pretty much sums up my philosophy on life, and applies to the topic.

Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.

One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.

He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?"

The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean."

"I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man.

To this, the young man replied, "The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die."

Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, "But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference!"

At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, "It made a difference for that one." :)

To P3rplexity,

I feel exactly the same way! If I can get just one person to stop smoking and thus preventing them pain, I would give as many "demos" as I had to. I finally got to demo my vape last night when I went to the bar for Halloween. I gave three cards to the bartender because being a smoker himself, he was very interested. Then I gave a card to this couple I was playing pool next to. The look on the mans face when he saw his wife so obviously exited about my PV made taking that little bit of time out worth every minute. The look on his face was that of a man who's wanted his wife to stop smoking for so long and didn't know how to do it. He was obviously worried about her and wanted her to live as long as possible. By taking 5 minutes out of my day I had given him that hope that he and his partner could grow old together.

Now, some people may say I sound preachy or think I'm selling them something well... They can think whatever they want as long as I can continue telling people about this. If I can prevent even one persons pain by letting them know there is another, very real and touchable, way to make their lives better/longer then I'm going to do it. I don't care what people think of me.

I've explained my 510 to friends and family but none of them smoke.

I didn't use it at the restaurant since they didn't have a smoking section. I don't want to argue or demonstrate the device during dinner.

I did sneak a few puffs in the mens room though. That was enough that I didn't need to walk outside the mall.

I hope the local diner will allow PVs. We have a smoking ban coming up in VA in 12/1/09. :(

I do keep an eye out for the LEDs. Haven't seen anyone else using one yet.

Hey ya! First post on this forum so I can tell you off the bat I've had my supermini since tuesday 3rd of november. All I can say is I love it.

Now to the topic. Yes Anywhere public I have been with it if I give the chance for people to notice what I'm vaping I have questions asked. I'm a student at a university and I was vaping in our guildroom with around 10 people in it any given time and constantly some coming and going.

I had to present the ecig around 15 times that day since every new person that came in had to know what the hell I was doing. Obviously since you can't smoke inside :) After that people were rather cool with it. No remarks like that it outside or anything. Maybe my manlihood being questioned since I mentioned I have this in "chocolate" *grin*

But the best part so far! I have got 1 student, 1 friend and my mother to order the vaped. All in my first day of vaping!

So that's like 3 new vapers just because I decided to show it to them. :)

It was funny to notice that normal non-smokers all more or less laughed at the product saying something that it was a wannabe cigarette when the actual smokers we're all like "hallelujah!"

Don't get tired of the fight! Every one person that starts vaping because of you can in return be an extention to your work and make other people vape! Don't forget that!

lol, it's okay to be a bigoted against anything that looks like smoking...didn't you get that memo?

It's not the actual second hand smoke that makes anti-smokers mad...it's the fact they SEE you with something that LOOKS like a cigarette that offends them. They want to dictate your morals, and you should not look like a smoker even if you aren't.

I wish I had the freedom to be dictating the morals of everyone like they can. Next time I see someone drinking a vitamin water I should go over to them and fake cough and wave my hand in front of my face saying how water kills and they should not be allowed to have it. (water kills more than nicotine ever does....drowning, storms, flooding etc). Just kidding, I'm not a self-righteous ........
