My last two surgeries were a real PITA. Due to smoking, I have breathing issues. They had to do breathing treatments before each surgery and even then the anesthetist almost vetoed the surgery. I was intubated both times. Coming out of surgery the 2nd to last time, had huge issues breathing when I came too. Thought I was suffocating. The last time, I took my C-PAP and it was better. The nurse put it on me to assist my breathing while in recovery. It helped that she (nurse) was a friend and we had talked about it beforehand.
