Greetings everyone!

First of all, I just have to say what an incredible forum this is. I've already spent an incredible amount of time on here and it was well worth the effort to be more informed about this new adventure of vaping.

I've been on quite a few forums (based on other interests) and I must say this site has some of the funniest and most caring people I've come across yet.

My adventure will begin in a few days, as I'm waiting on delivery of an Elite 808, an Echo and some juices from Backwoods Brew and Vermillion River. If I don't like them they'll probably end up on here in the classifieds.

As a smoker of 40 years (eek!!!...has it really been that long?) I've tried everthing except drugs (Chantix, etc) and never quit for more than a few weeks at a time. A couple of years ago I bought an expensive ecig from a local store that looks like a cig to help me get by during times I knew it would hard to smoke. What a joke that was! But at least it gave me some perspective on what to avoid now.

I'll also be sharing this new vaping hardware with my 26 year old son who wants to quit, to see if he likes either of these ecigs.

Unfortunately I'm the research queen when it comes to buying anything and sometimes just take too long to just make a decision, fearing it won't be "the best". Can anybody relate to that?

Ah well, if you see me posting, please encourage me to keep my credit card in my wallet until I've thoroughly tested out what I already bought!?!

Happy vaping to all

Hi Gloria! So nice to meet you! Best wishes to you and your son. I smoked for 36 years and managed to quit (one year + 1 week) with vaping. You can do it! And I sure can relate to the endless research before buying anything, but I don't think any amount of studying will tell you your favorite flavor! Sometimes you just have to take the plunge... so glad you did! I wish you every success.

Heyas Gloria,

Welcome to the ecf! And woot on the decision to start vaping

Try not to be too disappointed if you don't immediately give up the analogs when you start to vape. It took me quite a few weeks to stop smoking when I started vaping, but I did quit, and it was completely painless. Before I started vaping, I didn't realize just how nasty analogs tasted. After I started vaping, I eventually quit smoking just because the nasty taste outweighed the craving for a smoke.

Let us all know how you like your new gear when you get it!

:D

Welcome Gloria wish you the best of luck. I also started off buying an expensive ecig from the mall after seeing an ad on tv. I should have done some research before buying. I actually smoked cigs and vaped cuz the battery would only last 2 hours. After I learned the basics an bought an Ego, I haven't touched a cig in almost a year. Now I wish my sister would quit and start vaping also.

Hi Gloria, welcome! I am fairly new myself. Good you did the research. I researched a few days but mostly relied on advice from folks here. That worked out great for me. I used Welbutrin when I quit 10 years ago; it is an antidepressant, and I found it very effective.

p.s. If I had stayed quit, I wouldn't be here ;)

Hey Gloria - welcome! I did Chantix ..... 3 separate times. I quit on it, but the dreams were pretty weird, and it made me pretty nauseous in the mornings. I did Welbutrin also, and just called that my "smooth pill" .... didn't do much but I was pretty even tempered.
Vaping has been the least painful so far .... just gotta find some good juice.

added - I just looked and still have about 6 weeks of Chantix in my cupboard .... effective med, eh?

Well honestly, this forum just blows me away with the interest and kindness that is shown to "noobs" or whatever you all call the newcomers.

I was up half the night reading the posts by and to LOL (liloldlady). What a gem she is! And the responses...truly heartwarming, not to mention entertaining.

Your encouragement is sincerely appreciated and I'm sure that you're right about the illusive search for "the" juice.

Thanks to both of you! You two would make great accountability partners. So if I get the urge to buy more gear, I'll ask for your approval first. I trust you to safeguard my wallet. :)

More encouragement from those who have succeeded before me. Put's a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing your insights and how you did it!

Ah, the drugs...thanks to all of you for the warm welcomes and for chiming in on how they affected you.

Once my gear arrives, the first thing I'll do is login here to start asking questions. I know for sure that I'm in good hands with all of you.

Be blessed!
