I've been reading about vaping for about a week, digging through various bits of unfortunate Canadian regulation, and trying to decide what to buy for a PV.

I'm currently waffling between a KR808 with a PCC or an eGo-C setup, and planning to buy in the next week or so. I suspect I'll eventually end up with both, but tonight I'm leaning toward starting with an automatic 808 kit since the vaping process will be most like the coffin nails I've been puffing on for the last 20 years.

One question I have is the durability of the friction-fit 808 kits like the Innokin AIO... do they become loose after time? Also, are they compatible with other sorts of cartomizers etc?

Although it's not the only reason I'm looking at PVs, I do hope that I can kick the last few cigs that I smoke each day by vaping... I have lots of reasons to quit, but I can't seem to do without a few hits a day while the wife is still smoking.\\

If you have to have a cigarette look alike, I'd suggest the Volt

Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt - Basic Starter Kit - Starter Kits

It has a better track record around here.

If you don't have to have a cig look alike, and are leaning towards the eGo side, I'd suggest the KGO as opposed to the eGo-C...again, because it has a much better track record...

KGO (Riva) 1100mAh Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit - $49.95

These are just 'sample' venders, I'm not pushing these particular venders. You might find better deals from others.

I made it 2 and a half weeks on an automatic. Starting having problems with the switch sticking and so on. Switched to an eGo-C right away. Now you need to know, an 808 look alike and an eGo are going to have different thread types, so your atties, carts, cartos, and so on down the line aren't interchangeable without purchasing a thread adapter.

I would agree with Kay about the Volt and the kGo. I also agree with the others about automatic batteries.
If you look at all the high end e-cigs and APVs, none of them have automatic batteries. There is good reason for that.

The kGo performs better and is more trouble-free than the eGo-C, or the eGo-T. It's probably the single most successful starter e-cig around here. If you can handle something the size of a Sharpie marker, that's the way to go. You won't need a PCC because the battery will last you all day, and a kit includes two of them. You can also use a wide variety of attachments if you want. You don't have that option with an 808 mini-cig.

A larger battery e-cig always lasts and performs better than one that resembles a cigarette, but if you feel you absolutely must have something the size of a cigarette, the Volt is the best of an otherwise very poor range of choices.

Thank you, the strong recommendation from you and others to go to a larger vape has convinced me, I'll pass on the 808s. One trouble I've found is finding Canadian vendors that use the same naming and/or have the same products as the naming in the US. There's some vendors who sell "KGo" products in Canada who seem to actually be selling different brands of vapes as US vendors using the same name. :-/ For instance, one "KGo" product I found looks very much like an Ego-T with standard 510 atomizers...

I'm going to keep looking, but I might just have to go with something I think is roughly equivalent... and I'm also considering this kit which looks like a bit of a step up from most of the basic kits since it comes with Vision Stardusts, and 1100maH batteries:

eGo Vision Stardust & Extreme Vision Custom Kit 1100mAh
