Has anyone ever tasted raw Cap Marshmallow? I made a 4 flavor recipe today that tasted nasty and I've used all the flavors in other recipes before so I was a little taken back as to why this recipe tasted so bad. So I thought maybe I could just taste each flavor by putting a single drop on my finger and touching it to my tongue. Was I ever shocked when I got to the marshmallow, it was like putting a hot pepper in my mouth. I didn't really think it would taste good but I didn't expect it to taste like that. Anyone think this flavor could have gone bad or maybe that's just the way it taste?

I just wrote the fallowing post and when I went hit reply I realized that it could be taken as kind of snotty. Just be aware that it is JMHO :)

Very few concentrates taste good straight on the tongue. You should mix up and taste (vape!) a 10ml batch of every flavor you own. Taste it fresh and taste it periodically as it steeps. It seems to me that your are mixing flavors together and you don't even know what their flavor profiles are other than what it says on the bottle or some product description. Taste your flavors so you will know what flavors are doing what and how you might add or subtract flavors to achieve the final taste you are looking for.

I'm with @Capt.shay... I tried blindly mixing juice (small 15ml bottle) without trying any of the flavors first, and it's not a good way. The blue raspberry I was excited for, tasted like nothing until I dabbed a smear on the back of my hand, and licked it to find out it numbed my tongue, and burned (chemical). I just ordered 50x 5ml bottles to make 5% flavors of all my extracts. Unless you are following a recipe, I can't see another way to build flavors.

I'm still learning this whole DIY deal, and these forums are INVALUABLE.

Very few flavors taste good on the back of the hand. They are mostly strong with a burning sensation. They overpower my taste buds and I can't really taste anything for an hour, or more. Whipped cream is a little better option if you are trying to determine how something tastes. Works great except with tobaccos. Also gives you an idea about strength of the concentrate. If 1 drop is really strong in 2 tbsp of whipped cream you kinda know it will be strong in eliquids. Not a perfect method but it's one I sometimes use for new flavors. Others do this same method in water even trying flavor combinations in water to get a feel for how the flavors interact.

I personally love cap marsh. it is one of the few 4 oz bottles I have.

Thanks everyone! I was trying make a recipe that was posted here yesterday (panty dropper). I didn't want to critique his recipe because I was short one flavor (Sig Vanilla Bean IC) But I did have Cap Van Bean IC so I used that in its place thinking it would be in the same ballpark but it may not be. The recipe called for 3% of the Marshmallow so I don't think that's to much. I know tasting flavors this way is not a correct way and I didn't expect any of the flavors to taste good or even anything like the flavor name, I was just trying figure out which flavor was giving this recipe such a bad/strange taste. Needless to say my test was a waste of time and I didn't learn a thing. I was just shocked that the Marshmallow was so dang hot. I love it and use it all the time in my own recipes. Like I said in my first post above, I've used all these flavors in other recipes and Liked each one. I may have even screwed up something or maybe I just don't like this recipe, not sure. Not a big deal, you don't know if you don't try. Anyway thanks again!

I saw that video, too, and jotted down the recipe. It's very similar to my strawberry cupcake recipe, which is YUM! I can't believe this one would be bad, in spite of the name (it seems to be geared toward male vapers ;) ). In fact, I'm going to make a batch tomorrow. If you just made this juice today, LET IT SIT for a couple of days. Maybe leave the cap off it tonight, or at least for a few hours, to let off any "strong" odors, and try it tomorrow, or better yet, the day after tomorrow. Or the next day. My cupcake recipe is OK as a shake and vape, but there are a couple of flavors in it that really need to sit for a few days before they "blossom." When that happens, it's a knicker-dropper for sure! :)

And also, even though I watched the video, I only watched until he'd given the recipe, and didn't watch the end, so I don't know if there's a recommended steep time for this or not. I'm just assuming, because with those flavors, there should be at least a few days worth of steeping. It'll probably shine after a week. ;)

According to the vidio, you need to do it in your garage with the doors wide open. Then you must use some nasty old brown Nic. Also be sure to use syringes with no blunt tips and swirl them all the way inside some nasty looking juice bottles.

He did gloves :D and don't forget there must be some reason you must first shake your masterpiece before putting the cap on. o_O

Yeah, I pretty much skipped over all that, too. ;)

Oh, NOES! I must have missed some "important" part by clicking out early. I'll have to watch the rest of it later to see the exciting bits!

In the interest of science, I did make that Panty Dropper recipe yesterday, but I didn't have Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, so I used TFA's Vanilla Bean Gelato (gelato, ice cream, same thing...), and it's pretty good right now but it will be better as the creams mature. I also swiped a finger across my marshmallow bottle and tasted it straight. YIKES! Don't ever do that! That is NASTY!!! @WoodChucker I don't believe there's anything wrong with your flavoring - it just tastes BAAAAAD until it's mixed with something! LOL! Anyway, since I subbed out one of the flavors, I'm calling mine Knicker Bonkers. ;) It's silly, but no sillier than "Panty Dropper." I also made mine with no nicotine in it at all (I'm cutting back, so I don't use nic in the afternoon/evening anymore), so maybe it's the nic, if you used it, that was making yours taste a little off. You should try a small test batch with no nic to compare the flavor. All in the interest of science, of course. :D

Will probably scoop a bottle of this on my next order. Can anyone compare it to FA's marshmallow?

I've never tried the Flavour Art version of marshmallow, but all the FA flavors that I DO have are superb, so I would be willing to bet that Capella's isn't BETTER... but I honestly don't know, and taste is so subjective anyway, it might taste different, but as to "better" or "worse," that's something each person would have to decide for themselves. I like Capella's marshmallow, but that's only because that's the one I'm used to. ;)

Have you ever tasted your VB Gelato solo? Big difference between the two and the gelato, not so much in my book.

Just a BTW, there are several larger juice companies that all have had a juice called "panty dropper" in their line up for a long time (most of them much different from this one ). It is also the name of cocktail drink that has been around foreever.

LOL! I guess I don't get around much (never have!) - I'd never heard that name until that juice-making video. ;)

I've not tried the gelato by itself, but I've not had the ice cream flavor, either. Every time I went to order it was out of stock. That must mean it's GOOD, huh? I'll keep trying to get some. I got the gelato because a bunch of the reviews on it compared it to the VB ice cream flavor, and said it was as good or better, so I figured why not? But I live to experiment, so I will continue my search for VB ice cream next payday. :)

For the second time I'm going to harp on the same subject in the same thread but........taste your flavors people! Every one of them. Product descriptions are complete bunk and reviews are subjective. You can't mix if you don't know what your mixing. Some times you can just fallow a recipe and end up with something you like but most time it will need tweeking. Tweeking with what? At what percentage? Or, maybe there is an offender in there. How can you possibly know? And, if you ever want to do anything other than try to follow a recipe then you need to know what the flavors you are adding taste like in order to achieve the final desired taste. Mix up a 10 ml batch of each flavor and vape it for a while. You don't have to vape it all but a 10ml batch is big enough to avoid measuring errors and give you a good chance to taste the flavor. Try to remember just how inexpensive these ingredients are and don't be afraid to experiment/waste a little juice in the creative process.

When I first started DIYing, I did only single flavors, and then mixed them in the tank to try out different combinations, after I'd tried them singly. But I'm reckless, and soon moved on to making up my own recipes, depending on if I thought it would be good or not. I do small batches for ones I'm not sure about, but if I have something that I know every flavor in it is good, I make them in big batches right from the start. I cook the same way. ;) I've not made a bad batch of juice yet, though. On the other hand, I've never really tried any pre-made juice that I really didn't like, except for tobacco flavors, which is odd for someone who smoked for over 40 years... but I don't like it, so I don't use tobacco flavor. But anything else seems to be fair game to me. :)

As far as reviews go, that's all I have to go on. I don't have a vape shop to go to, no one within a hundred miles even knows what vaping IS, and I might think a flavor name sounds good, but if all the reviews say it tastes like gasoline, I'll pass on it. If all the reviews are good, and recommend getting it by the gallon, then I'm going to assume it's probably a good flavor and I'll like it, too. I also don't have an income, and rely on hubby's military retirement and disability, which is very small, so I can't order flavors willy-nilly just to see if they're any good. I use other people's recommendations to guide me. We also have a small farm, and there are cows to be milked and taken care of and chickens to feed and look after, and dogs and cats and everything else, so even if I could afford to buy a small bottle of every flavor, I wouldn't have the time to make them all into small batches of juice to try them out singly. You're absolutely RIGHT that it's the BEST way to do it, but I felt like you were speaking to me in your last post, and I just wanted to explain that sometimes there's a "situation" that doesn't apply to most other people. Like being poor and busy! LOL! So I do it the way I do it, and I'm successfully keeping myself off the smokes, and THAT is what counts, right? ;)

But again, you're absolutely right, so everyone else should do as Capt.Shay says, not as I do!
