I only have 2 from Capella. I'm a noobie at it as well, but both of them have been giving me issues. I have Swt Strawberry which I have heard is the best for strawberry and Caramel. Both seem to be giving a very artifical/chemical flavor. The Swt Stw is good at a low % with TFA Necterine as a main flavor. I got these to clone a B&M flavor hummingbird nectar and it turned out good but solo they are horrid.

Hello, when I started making my own juice I made the mistake of only ordering Capella flavoring. Out of the 15+ flavors I tried only 2 of them tasted right and not nasty.

Anyone here have similar experiences with Capella flavorings?

Can you list some of these flavors?? The 3 I use on a regular basis that I love are Vanilla Custard,Coconut,Chocolate Coconut Almond,Cinnamon Danish Swirl.

Most likely this is your biggest issue
In time you will develop a knack for mixing........or give up. At some point percentages for given flavors and Manufacturers will start to make sense. Learning what to add/combine will greatly improve results.

People post:
Capella is terrible
TFA is horrible
LA SUX

Most of it is learning proper application.

There are a few Excellent Capella Flavor Recipes listed on DIY - give a few a shot.

Agreed. Every flavor out there will tast horrible without proper mixing. The difficult part is a flavor may taste great at 2.74% in one mix but will turn a different mix putrid at the same level because of the way it interacts with the other flavors. I use mainly TPA and FW but have been buying more Capella because I find their flavor superior in most my mixes.

But I vape them anyway:)

Those that are having issues should read my blogs by clicking on the link in my signature you'll learn a lot on how to mix.

It seems a lot of these would be used as an additive or mixer to a recipe instead of a standalone flavor,But not sure as I haven't tried some of these.I can tell you the Chocolate Coconut Almond to me is great on its own I mix this at 12% with nothing else,And it gets better everyday thereafter. The coconut is awesome and I mix this with other flavors at 3-5%.I recently bought the fudge brownie and it seems good at 12-15%,But Its not as strong as the Chocolate almond..

Double Chocolate,Cola,Cherry Cola,Banana Split might be good on their own.keep in mind Capella flavors are quality flavors very well liked but that doesn't mean they are all great.

I don't like the percentage of flavorings to exceed 15% with any standalone or combo of all just my opinion

Taste is very subjective, one person's nectar is another's poison. Personally, I find that most Capella's flavorings have a base custard note to them that I am not fond of. If a person likes custard flavored juices then Capella should be on their short list of go-to sources for DIY flavorings. The only Capella flavor I use regularly is their caramel but mix it with TFA's original caramel, FW caramel candy and FA butterscotch to create a blended "caramel" flavoring I use as an ingredient when flavoring NETs. Capella's fruit flavors are pretty good but I prefer Inawera for most fruit flavorings.

Ah ha! So that's the culprit. I've been trying to figure out just who it is who makes the flavoring with that buttery/custard note. Thank you!!!

Cake batter, Sugar cookie, Graham cracker, Vanilla cupcake, Vanilla custard and many others have a substantial buttery/custard base note. If you like that flavor profile I would highly recommend you give at least one of them a try.

Actually you are right on this as I bought the Horchata and if you put the Vanilla custard label on it you would never know the difference,Same for the Cake Batter.Don't know if get this with the chocolate flavors though.I guess this is not for everyone but I do like it.

I just started DIY a couple weeks ago. Picked up LorAnn, Capella, and Flavour Art flavorings. Everyone's tastes are different - what one likes someone else will find heinous. Of the ones I've tried so far, I have not been disappointed in any of them - including the Capellas. I have one keoke/vanilla mix that's a little "funky" to me, but I'll vape out the 10mL I made and maybe try a different recipe the next time :D

It's trial and error, I'm sure. I've read a thread (or two) here that talks about recommended percentages for the different flavor bases. One flavor base might need only 3-5% to be as effective as another's 10-15%. Might be that you need to raise or lower the overall percentage for the same flavor to work for *you*. I treat all the offered recipes as guidelines, not as gospel truth. Just like cooking (not baking), you can tweak to *your* liking.

Steve K - I giggle slightly at your mention of the Horchata. I *just* made a small batch to try that flavoring this morning. You're pretty close to spot on. I was expecting a little more "spiciness" - cinnamon, mostly - in the Horchata, but it's just not there for me. I did add a touch of Chocolate/Almond/Coconut to the straight Horchata. Four parts Horchata to 1 part Choc/Alm/Coconut, and I'm tasting as much of the latter as I am the Horchata :)

But, I'm not dropping $50-60 at a time on store-bought juices (although I do love my local B&M's flavors). I'm getting things that I'm content with, and spending less money doing it.

Hope OP finds flavorings that are palatable and work. That's what it's all about :) (that and the Hokey-Pokey :D)

It gets funnier or worse as I actually contacted Capella thinking they made a mistake on the horchata because it is spot on as a Vanilla Custard and smells the same,I actually spoke with the woman there on the phone after she called me and she didn't know if they did make a mistake,It was a small panic, and in the end they didn't.Did you ever try The Horchata from TFA, is very good and is spicy with a cinnamon flavor,This is no where close to that.I ran out of The Capella Vanilla Custard one time and realized I have some extra called Horchata, and it works. Can't taste the difference??

No, haven't tried TFA yet. I have close to 40 flavorings (yeah, ordered a 24-pack of LA from Amazon and the rest from ecigexpress before I'd even received my Amazon order!!!!!) many of which haven't even had the safety seals removed yet  It's gonna be awhile before I need to re-order. Although, I didn't get some basic flavors in my first round(s) like strawberry, banana, plain coconut, etc. I'm trying to make myself a decent Castle Long clone, and I got the wrong bourbon flavoring (and I don't have all the vanillas - even though I must have ordered about 8 different ones )

I actually think I'm the only one who likes the Horchata From TFA,Never hear anyone really talk about it,But man Is it good,Unlike any other flavor I have.
I bought plenty of TFA flavors that I tried once and never used again.I order the one's I've never tried straight from TFA because they are small bottles like samples and I feel as I am not wasting it if I don't like em.

Never tried Castle Long.

Quick thread hijack: Dinger, I have that keoke coffee too..LA right? My mom decided to buy a few flavorings a few months back to see if she could spruce up her juices. That one was sitting there so I gave it a try with cap VC..straight up horrible. I only used about 3% and I'm STILL trying to dilute it down.

Okay, carry on..sorry :D

Actually, for some things, I like the buttery taste, like pastries, but it's really, really overwhelming to me and tends to clobber anything in the vicinity. I have a key lime I now bet is based on Capella and had to run a batch of fire and ice through the tank afterward to get rid of that taste. It was worse than some absinthe flavors in sticking around.
