A couple of quick questions for those who have used Capella’s flavor drops. In particular Caramel and Vanilla Custard. My only experience with flavorings has been with LorAnn’s. So I’m not quite sure how to approach a D.I.Y. mix with Capellas.

My questions are;

Is Capella’s flavoring about as concentrated as Lorann’s?

What percentages of Capella’s flavorings have people used for their D.I.Y. mixes? 10%? 15%? More? Less?

Does using too much Capella’s ruin e-juice like when too much Lorann flavor is used?

Any suggestions or recipes on making Caramel or Vanillia e-juice with Capella’s flavorings?

Thanks for your help.

From the sticky thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/74109-guide-diy-flavoring.html the second post, "The flavor drops are a bit stronger than LorAnn flavors overall, and they have often been said to have less underlying bitterness and aftertaste. Their site also has a section for e-liquid use if you're unsure about safety.
Capella average strength needed: 10-20%
French Toast strength needed: 15-20%, 5/5"

Should be enough to get you started.

Those sticky posts are your friends...

Thanks Hoosier...

I was a little confused about the strength of Capella's after reading that sticky and doing a ECF search. I got some mixed results.

It seemed that the general opinion was that Capells's was stronger but some said that LorAnn's was. I think it might be that individual flavors have different strengths for LorAnn's verses Capella's.

The somewhat bitterness of LorAnn's is one of my reasons for experimenting with Capella flavorings.

Have you had problems with adding too much Capella's? I know that if you add too much LorAnn's it turns juice bad quickly.

I've found that too much capella's reduces the flavor with out the chemically-ness like Loranns.

It gets a generic "meh" kind of flavor when they get too high %.

Can this be fixed by adding more nic base? I'm running into the problem of not knowing if I need more flavor or less and am experiencing a lot of "meh" flavors lately.

It's a tricky juggling act, but yes, it can be done.

I find if what I am vaping is getting all "meh" and ......ed, I have to go to something completely different for a bit. (Sorry, watching Idiotocracy lately.)

Zen Garden by FA is one of those taste bud cleansers for me. That sharp pine taste kinda' snaps 'em back. Not a vape that I like to do alot, but it has it's place.

That in and of it's self would be a reason for me to move to Capella. I like LorAnn but there is a very fine line between intense flavor and ruined juice.

I like strong flavors and will add LorAnn drop be drop to get that zing I'm looking for. But sometimes adding just one more drop pushes it over the edge.

I thought I was the only one who thought LorAnn's was kinda bitter, it leaves a weird I just sucked on a penny aftertaste or something like that. And I have to add heaps of EM to them too. ...

Your not the only one. I have some recipe cards for fruit blends that I would love to make more intense. But know that an extra drop or two of LorAnn's will not help. Actualy make it worse.

BTW - What is EM?

Gotcha...

But I thought since EM has a high boiling point, 322 F, that you were not supposed to use it. I read that it gums up atty's. But I could be wronge.

Could be, I'm not sure though. I haven't had a problem in the two months that I've been using it in mixes, but I also clean my atty's about every 1-2 weeks depending on how much use it's gotten.

A lot of people use it though, I generally only use a drop (I buy it already diluted from PA's) for a 3ml mix and up to 3-4 for a 10ml batch. I haven't made anything yet that requires sweetening beyond that.

I'll have to check it out. I like juice on the sweeter side. Where is a good place to buy it in small amounts for testing?

Of course, everyone's taste are different, but it's good to know I am not alone.

I found adding Marshmallow takes that away and makes the flavor wetter, if that makes sense. I think it was Pure Vapor that mentioned that awhile back and it works great with Capella. (I apologize to whoever came up with that if it wasn't Pure Vapor.)

I use a lot of it in almost everything and I've never had a problem. When my attys start to taste bad I soak them for awhile in Crest Pro Health and that's all I do.

I soak mine in Everclear 151 (dang FL won't allow higher than that).

My Dad & sister love the juice I make with LorAnn's, I was just kind of disappointed in it. I'll try the marshmallow, I just happened to have ordered some with the rest of the flavors. Maybe I can then finally use the raspberry.

:offtopic:

Spell check just informed me that raspberry has a "p" in it. Never noticed that before, despite the fact it's written on a quite a few food stuff in my house
