I got a bottle of this stuff not too long ago after having worked with the TFA Graham (clear) for variation's sake. When I opened the bottle and smelled it, it literally smelled exactly like that sugary vanilla icing on a cake. I get no graham smell at all, but instead this very intense sugar/vanilla/cream/icing smell. Is this what you guys pick up when you smell it, or did I get some vanilla custard or something that was mis-bottled?

Weird. I'm also fimilure with the TFA GC so that doesn't sound right. I would suggest you take a small peace of plain unsalted cracker and put a small drop of that concentrate on it. Pop it in the microwave for 10 sec then taste it. THat will give you an idea on it's mixed taste.

Hey! Someone else uses a similar method! :) - I'd suggest doing the same. Since most all flavors are really for baking / cooking, it's safe to do test runs using the method mentioned by DannyV45. The heat will evaporate the alcohol and bring out the true flavor. You can also test this on white bread that's heated or lightly toasted.

Just make sure you do it with the flavor, not the mixed end-result.

The problem isn't the TFA GC, its the Caps GC. The TFA GC tastes like it should, whereas the Cap GC I received recently has this vanilla icing thing going on that doesn't remind me of GC at all.

Yes I know its the caps that I'm recommending you test as previously described.

I have TFA GC and ECX GC. the TFA is very dark while the ECX is golden. Both have a vanilla note. The one that has the most realistic GC smell is the dark TFA.

Yeah I've been avoiding the darker one because of the corn syrup in it. This Cap GC isn't all that bad now that I've mixed it, it's just not all that realistic. Has a sweet vanilla thing going on which will work in some recipes I have in mind, but it's disappointing because I've heard alot about Caps GC and how its used in Bobas clones etc.

They are both TFA. TFA has 2 kinds of graham cracker. Clear and Dark. EXC calls TFA "Signature". That is why they dont have any TFA on their website. I have no idea why they do this. Like DIY is not confusing enough already. LOL
