Hello again everyone and welcome back for another review of a kit by IJOY that has been out for a bit and has a rating of military grade for toughness. The appearance hasn't changed much from the original PD270 other than it now has a military grade as IJOY states on their website. There is a new tank that comes with the Captain 2 called the Captain V and it's cross coil compatible with past diamond coils 15 in all including a RBA coil so if you stockpiled some of these coils your in luck with the Captain V. As always lets get to know the Captain 2 Kit a little bit before the review and my impressions after using it.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Opening the box revealed the Captain 2 Mod along with the Captain V Tank sitting in a tray on top of a box containing everything that comes in this kit. Picking up the device and giving it a quick look over I noticed a few changes have been made from the original PD270. The Captain 2 now has a spring loaded centered 510 connection with a rubber bezel with corner bumpers on the top plate and can accept up to a 30mm atomizer without overhang.
While still retaining the massive fire button from the PD270 that I really like the Captain 2 now has leather side panels that are very comfortable to hold and adds to the grip, holding a device of this size they tend to become slippery or slide easily in your hand but the leather side panels prevent that from happening. This is a full sized device that has quite a bit of heft to it with no feeling of cheapness at all, the device feels solid and strong.
The dual 18650 batteries are loaded into the device from the bottom via a battery door cover that has also been changed from the PD270. The internal battery sled is spring loaded with battery polarity clearly marked both internally and on the battery door itself. On the inside of the device a metal pin sensor is also used for the batteries.
As shown above the battery door has been changed from a vertical opening that was used on the PD270 to a horizontal opening and has a very secure door latch that has never opened on me unintentionally in the 2 weeks of reviewing this kit. Notice the rubber bezel with corner bumpers surrounding the bottom of the device just like the top plate.
The color that I was sent is gunmetal with a carbon fiber backside and I'm assuming that all the Captain 2's back covers are carbon fiber, the only picture I could find of the backside was the rainbow version and it also has is carbon fiber.
The front display screen is a bit dim for outdoors but inside it's bright enough and can be seen easily. All the information you need is laid out nicely with your wattage boldly shown and dual battery bars next to it at the top. Under the wattage your coils Ω's are shown with amps next to it. your volts are displayed under the wattage, in a box on the right side of the display your mode and setting of that mode is displayed and finally at the bottom is your puff counter and time of your last puff is displayed. Under the display screen are the up and down buttons with a standard USB port that is covered with a rubber plug. I don't recommend charging batteries in a device but if your in a pinch and have to the Captain charges at 1.5 amps.
MENU
* Turning the device on/off is done with the standard 5 quick presses of the power button.
* Once the device is on and screen is displayed 3 quick presses of the power button opens up the menu screen with power being displayed in the first box, TC next to it in it's box. Under the power box is the TCR box with the settings box next to it and your puff counter reset box at the very bottom.
* To get to each box use the up or down button to move to the box you want, once your in the box you want simply press the power button to open the menu for that box you selected.
* In the power box you have a selection of modes to use - NORMAL, HARD, SOFT, USER . User is a power curve.
* In TC your metal choices are in boxes also and include NI, TI, SS, M1, M2, . Your M1 and M2 are TCR memory settings.
* In TCR, M1 and M2 settings are displayed and can be adjusted.
* The settings box allows you to chose how long the display screen stays on. 10's, 30's 60's or 90 seconds.
* The puff counter at the bottom allows you to clear your puffs.
The menu is very simple and easy to use, perfect for any one from beginner to advanced vaper.
CAPTAIN V TANK
The Captain V Tank is your standard sub ohm tank with dual airflow slots across from each other. The Tank is very airy, so airy you could breathe through it but can be dialed down for a RDL vape. I like that you are able to use the Diamond coils 15 in all including a RBA coil with the Captain V tank .
Flavor was very good for about 60-80mls then fell off very rapidly. As most sub tanks are the Captain V is very thirsty and you will plow through juice very fast. The X3-Mesh 0.15Ω coil is preinstalled and turned out to be my preferred coil of the 2 with the other being the X3-C1 0.4Ω
FINAL IMPRESSIONS
Well folks we have arrived at the end and I have to say I've been happy using this kit. The mod is built very well with a solid feel to it and it has a military rating according to IJOY. I don't see any mention of it being waterproof or dustproof but shock proof I can see. The chipset worked fine never having any failure to fire, shorts or lags of power. Ramp up is very fast with no hesitation happening in the 2 weeks of use.
The battery door redesign has performed great , the menu is so easy to navigate and simple to use, I've had no button rattle from it . I am not a TC vaper so I can't give you any feedback on TC but wattage mode has been great.
I love the massive fire button and that fact you need to apply some force to it when firing the device. It can be held in either position in the hand ad fired by squeezing . because the fire button is as massive as it is it acts like a fire bar and I love fire bars.
As far as cons go I only have a few, one being the screen brightness, the other being there is no way to lock the adjustment buttons, normally pressing both the up and down buttons simultaneously locks your adjustment buttons but on the Captain 2 it locks your ohms. The third is that the display screen must be on for your adjustment buttons to work. Other than that I really like the Captain 2 kit and will continue to use it, besides I find it attractive.
The Captain 2 Kit can be purchased from Sourcemore at a discounted price of $43.99 using coupon code IJCK
I would like to thank Lilia and Sourcemore for providing the Captain 2 Kit by IJOY for review. I also hope this review helped anyone looking to purchase the Captain 2 Kit.
