I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me? I got the one from focalecig and it looks great, however pretty much whenever I try to lock and unlock it the whole bottom part unthreads either all the way or enough to not make it fire the next time I try and hit it. Is anyone else having this problem?

My initial intent was to give this mod to a buddy at work that kept stealing my Natural Telescope for long periods at a time! But when I gave him this setup he kept coming up to me every hour or so asking me to fix it!! Needless to say this got old real quick, so he has my K100 now which I want back!!

Never let people who are un knowledgeable keep your mods! Lol its like rule numero #2 for a vaper

I'm purchased this at a local store, its a clone. I just cannot figure out what company made it. I'm going to post some of its key points, maybe someone could assist me...I am very pleased with this clone. I now own a nemmy and a cavvy =]

That looks an Hcigar with its silver plated contacts and SS top cap.

Ehpro and FT caravela clones have brass pins.

Take the switch apart clean it all up and lube the locking ring, if it still sticks take the switch off and unlock & lock repeat that until it breaks in.

Here is something interesting I just found on the internet:

VelaTypes.jpg

From what I heard the first FT batch was hcigar and then they changed to another manufacture, FT are always doing his and that's the biggest problem with them. Think they do it to get good product ratings in the beginning and then switch, that or they get overwhelmed with orders and suppliers like hcigar can't keep up.

I get some stuff from fasttech except for things I pore juice into, they say SS and then you find washers, screws and posts that are chromed brass....

I think Ill end up getting the brass fasttech one for the tubes.

After doing some research you will be able to kick hcigar caravela in 18500 mode with a efest v1 18350 flat top.

kick2 = 16.5 mm
efest 18350 flat top = 29.2 mm (Will work 16.5 + 29.2 = 45.7)
efest 18350 button top = 34.7 mm (Too big 16.5 + 34.7 = 51.2)
efest 18500 flat top = 48 mm (Fits the 18500 tube no problem)

Thanks for the research! Do you happen to know the measurements of the AW 18450? Currently I have a hcigar vela clone with efest button top 18350s and a flat top 18500. I still get a bit of threading gap at the bottom with the stock pin and kayfun. Do you know how I could get a safety fuse to fit a flat 18500? I've never used one so I'm wondering how you're supposed to get an extra ~3mm out of these tubes.

Last 3 digits is the length size 450=45mm, first 2 is the diameter 18mm. Now the AW batteries have a bad habit of different sizes +/- a couple of mm.

I need new batteries for my calipers so I couldn't get an exact measurement but my efest 18500 is a bit under 50mm according to a ruler. I do get a gap between the tube and battery cap though. I'm looking for some shorter top pin screws. Looks like the one in my mod is M5 6mm. Perhaps, I could sand it down a bit, although I'd like some replacements on hand before I do that and render it useless.

Just received the ehPro Copper Caravela from eciggity today. It's not the HCigar one (though my kraken sitting on top of it is). It's my first clone and it is awesome. Loving it so far.

It has silver plated floating pin and a silver plated pin in the button with a brass spring.

PS. Don't understand why the pic can't be opened. it's tiny.

don't sand down the pin, you will sand the silver off. Get some m5 brass screws on ebay and just make some pins.

Thanks for the info Badaboom - it's appreciated.

I don't have the HCigar, but then again, I'm not sure who makes the one I have (from Focal): it has air channels at the 510 connection, has the 'caravela' ship logo, and has a brass/gold ring at the top - oh, and it's 23mm!

I'd really like to find a 23mm 18500 tube (for kicking purposes) that has the logo, etc. - but FT is only selling the 22mm tubes (methinks), and I can't seem to get it anywhere!

I'm pretty sure you have the EHPro version. Their early vela clones didn't have the trademarks but the newer clones do. The 23mm makes me pretty sure it's EHpro, as the HCigars are smaller and the Yiloong or whatever brand doesn't seem to be too common anymore (no idea what diameter they are either) And the yiloong ones were crap, where as the EHPro is one of the nicest clones around IMHO.

If anyone is considering the vela clone off FT, be warned that it does not come with silver plated pins like the ones being sold as HCigar in the states are. My buddy was pretty happy when he thought he was getting his for nearly half the price I got mine stateside, until he took the switch off and saw no silver! :)

He also didn't get a case with his order (the black zippered HCigar logo case) but I'm not sure if that was FT's mistake or they just don't come with them. If anyone else has ordered the vela from FT, did you get a black zippered HCigar case with it?

I have two minor disappointments with my ehpro vela.

1. Top cap and bottom button brass plating (thought it was solid brass when purchased) is starting to be rubbed off.
2. When tightening the locking ring (reverse threaded) I have a habit of loosening the bottom button. I have to routinely tigten up the fire button because of this.

All in all, i am pretty happy. happy enoug to buy the magnets from fat daddy vapes to upgrade this badboy :)

Yeah, based on the comparison photo posted before, with all the distinct bottom cap/button configurations, the FocalECig model looks to be the EHPro version (v2 - w/ logos, etc.). Cheers for your input!
