Caravela Vs Stingray clones ?

Ok, I am looking to get a new mod, and Im trying to decide between the Caravela clone and Tobeco Stingray clone. I'm looking to use the mod as a daily, heavily used mod. Anyone who has experience with both care to offer their opinions? Is one more durable than the other? Cosmetics are a non issue with me (it can look like a turd as long as I can reliably use it day in and out for years without fail). Thanks in advance!

I havent tried the caravela. I have the stingray clone and love it. a friend of mine has both and his adv mod is the stingray as well as mine. The good thing about the stingray clone is that if you have button issues the button from a nemesis mod will fit.

I own both a caravela and a stingray, both could easily be used as a daily driver. However! The caravela required alot more fiddling at first to fit batteries without rattle or a gap between the atty and top cap. I honestly would get a stingray, BUT if you like the look of the vela, just make sure you get extra firing pins of different lengths and you'll be set. Mine only came with one...I heard most come with 3. I stopped by my local Ace Hardware and picked up more. They have everything for us who love to tinker. =]

I can only speak of the StingRay mod I got in a group buy from WhiteStag. Really like it and works great. The treads are smooth and like the earth magnet switch. Have not had any problems. The phamtom brass is really polished to a mirror finish but I decided to let mine dull.

Perfect. Thanks for the quick responses! Im leaning towards the stingray as of right now. Anyone know if the stainless steel version has the stainless 510 connection? I like the brass (especially after it has time to patina), but logic says that the ss will make for longer lasting threads.

What isle were the pins in? What kind of pins are they? I like to rebuild everything from engines to computers and everything in between. Im always happy to find stuff that can be purchased at a local hardware store.

The SS stingray has stainless connectors. Mine is great except the fire button wobbles which I've heard is pretty common

I've heard that the stainless steel clones are not as well made as the brass for whatever reason. My brass stingray clone is pretty nice. It's become my daily workhorse. Had to work with the switch a little bit to smoothen it out.

Brass stingray gets my vote. Killer mod. Looks great and performs. V-apes has them for 30$ right now. Good deal

I have 3 different Vela clones from 3 different makers (2 SS, one brass) and I have a brass Stingray clone....it isnt close...the Stingray easily outperforms any of the Velas, and IMHO, is much more smexy than the Velas as well....YMMV...

I ended up getting the stingray clone. Very happy with it. I had to clean all threads, as well as pull apart the switch and clean those components. Preforms well, quickly develops an even patina, like the matching drip tip. Thank you for all the suggestions. Couldn't be happier!

Vaping on my brass Stingray clone from FT right now. It's miles ahead of my "mixed style" nemmy clone from FT. Did I say miles? I mean lightyears.

I own both clones. The brass Stingray is much superior to the 'mixed' Caravela. The locking ring on the Caravela is a ....*. The brass Stingray wins hands down.

BRASS STINGRAY CLONES BEWARE....I have found on some SR clones the top floating pin is to short for several attys....

Any thoughts on the Stingray X style? They have them on FT for $27, love the copper, has silver plated copper contacts. Any thoughts?
