Hi everyone! I am new to this forum. This Thursday I am going on vacation and this is my first time flying with an e cig. I plan to disassemble my e cig and keep my battery in my purse like required and put my juice with my other liquids in a ziplock in my suitcase. Has anyone had any issues with keeping your tank in your checked bag? I will go ahead and empty the tank just to be safe from leakage (not worried about that), but I am worried about security confiscating it.

I've always flown with just a small carry-on suitcase & a tote bag, so I take everything with me through the Security check and then onto the plane.

However, I know you absolutely can include your tanks, larger bottles of eliquids (in leakproof bottles), your charging cords and plugs, and mods without batteries in them...in your checked baggage. You're definitely going to want to remove any eliquid from tanks though, no matter where they are on a plane, or you'll have a real mess from them leaking! You should have no problem with Security taking your tanks or other stuff from your luggage...at least in the US that is.

I took 6 different flights this past June and July, and had no problem with taking any vaping materials on any of them.

Hi Kal & welcome
You can of course google this question and get the latest from TSA. I believe the way it now sits is that with the batteries & juice removed you can pack your device in either carry on or checked. The batteries should be in a proper holder to ensure they don't short circuit in your purse. Liquids of any sort fall under the liquid rules and eliquids are no different. They should probably be in their original containers inside the resealable plastic bag for a couple of reasons. Firstly if it is not obvious by the size of the container security will want to know how many milliliters it is to ensure it is not exceeding the individual limit, and secondly if they're not sure what type of liquid you are carrying it may also prove a problem.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Just traveled from CA to NV and back. TSA is primarily interested, by way of vaping gear, in the following two areas: Internal/External Batteries and liquid. Doubt TSA is interest in any vape device that doesn't have batteries.
Internal battery built mods ok on person/carry on bag in flight. I took in two each Istick 30w in my pocket. At carry on baggage x-ray, was given a small bowl to put mods in. The bowl with batteries were sent on conveyor through he x-ray machine. No problems encountered.
External (batteries alone) on your person only and protected (in bat. case if you have one) should go through x-ray and hand carried in plane on your person.

Liquid: as many bottles that will fit in a 1 quart zip lock bag. None of the bottles exceeding 100ml. in liquid size. Ok in carry on or checked bag. One 1 quart bag (2 total) in carry or checked ok. No problems encountered.
If you had 2 checked in and 2 carry on bags, you probably would not have problems with traveling with 4 one quart bags total.

No problem taking the tank(s) in your carry-on. Better to do that. And you can keep the battery in your mod, and the tank attached, as long as you switch off the mod. I always put my mod(s) visible along with my fluids, laptop etc, just to avoid the need to open my luggage and show the equipment at the security check.

I recently flew from NY to CA and took quite a bit of gear with me all on my carry on though. I use a dual laptop bag and have plenty of room for my individually bagged parts like drippers, tanks, mods, battery charger as well as batteries that were all in cases and about 6 60mil bottles of juice in the liquids bag. Had no problem at all even got thanked by the tsa guy for making it easy for them. I did have quite a bit of juice in my checked bag but as long as there are no batteries it shouldn't be an issue if I remember reading correctly. I did research my airline and the tsa website prior and as far as I can tell they only care about the batteries being with you in the cabin due to potential under plane storage fire concerns.
