Carto loosing airflow

What causes cartos to loose airflow? Sometimes they go for more than a week, sometimes the airflow is gone in a day..
My first Boge lost all it's airflow in 30 hours, while smoktek 1.7s usually hit well till the fill turns black after more than 10ml

From what I can tell on a vertical coil, the coil starts to collapses on itself. And/or the filler swells too much and causes the restricted airflow.

I took one of mine apart to see if i could figure it out.. all i found was a TON of gunk burnt flavorings that didnt vaporizer and just gunked up the filter/coil reducing/restricting my air flow..
