So, I'm about a week and a half into this. Started with a 900 mAh eGo kit and a bunch of sample juices.

I was doing great dripping with the stock atomizers but wanted to try some LR's and cartos. I ordered the LR atomizers and Smoketech MDCC and got them in.

The LR is great to drip. Lots of vape and flavor.
Then I loaded a carto with Banana Nut Bread juice.

Okay. Not nearly as impressed with the MDCC. Its a very fine line between flooding the carto and running it dry.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Maybe it's my juice. I got some 50/50 PG/VG that worked killer for dripping, but is giving me fits in the carto.

Thoughts?

Don't get me wrong, the MDCC is good, hold a lot of juice but I'm not nearly as thrilled with it as others seem to be either. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong as well.

I like the regular dual coil cartos- they're great! The draw seems sort of tight and hard on the MDCC to me. And I'm using 100% PG in them so it should be OK.

Try a couple of the regular dual coil cartos and a couple 2.0 boge cartos. You'll get a great vape with the boge but they don't hold as much. Crystal Clear Vaping has both and I'd give them a try.

Anothe option which I like are the echo-e cartomizers. Hold about 3.5 ml of juice. They're tapered so they look a little nicer than the EMDCC.

edit: I'm not sure how the echo-e cartos would be with 50/50. But they should be OK with the boge. They just won't last as long as with a thinner juice.

I have no idea what your cartos are. I use Boge.

IMO plain stuffing cartos like 20% VG or less - I can feel the drag degrade when I use more VG (though I am using normal resistance. LR heat would loosen juice a bit so maybe you could use more VG and some say they use 100% VG in dual coils).

Reservoir cartos and tanks like the thickness of 20-30% VG

If you got those 1.5 ohm dual coils, someone else else trouble with hit and flavor in them. And that is very low ohms - some people will not use them in anything but a mod with the removable industrial type batteries. I imagine the AW IMR high drains might help too.

The most popular LR cartos on Ego etc are Boge 2.0

The dual coils I've used have been alternately awesome or sucky... it depends on other factors. A dualie on my 3.7v box mod is pretty much indistinguishable from a standard 2.0 ohm LR carto, other than needing about an extra second or so of "priming draw" for the coils to heat up. On a high voltage mod, the things ROCK... I use them at 6 volts for those "stressful days", and I've tried them successfully at 7.4 volts (short drags only), and they didn't pop or burn. I think it also has to do with the mah of the battery you're on, since when I use one on the box (3.7v, 900mah), they're pretty awesome, but on my Precise P10 (3.7v, 350mah), they kinda suck.

I imagine that on a standard ego, which is around 3.2v under load at 650 mah, they'd probably suck too. Don't toss them out; at some point you'll probably move up to 3.7 volts. Save them for later. Also, with 50/50 juice, you need to allow some sitting time after your fills on a carto (for the packing material to fully soak evenly), and extra time between drags to let the juice wick into the coil. Remember, it's thicker. Like the difference between running water through a coffee filter vs. Aunt Jemima pancake syrup.

Next order, get some plain PG to thin out your juice with, just for experimentation. Try some at different PG/VG balances... or get into DIY like I have (it's cheaper in the long run, and you have more control and options). I highly suggest the 2.0 (that's 2.0 ohm) cartos that Swedishfish mentions, they're my mainstay, and I've prolly got 100 backstocked in the closet. With an ego, don't go LR under 2 ohms, or you may blow the switch, but the 2.0 ohm Boge soft tips are safe, and they perform very well at the ego's somewhat lower voltage.

Here I am babbling... sorry... anyway, my point was, don't give up on the dual coils. They work great on the right unit, which you might someday acquire... so stash them if you don't like them now, and try them again in a few months on whatever you're using then (and I can almost promise you, it'll be something different, heheh)

I'm currently using the LR 1.7 cartos from Crystal Clear Vaping with my Silver Bullet at 3.7v and love them. I was a die hard dripper (spent almost a year only dripping w/ various LR attys) until I got hold of these. All my liquid is 20% VG and I have no complaints. 15 of them cost the same as buying 2-3 LR attys, that's enough to sell me there.

Color me unimpressed with cartos of any kind. DC's tend to give more vapor and throat hit, but in the end, the flavor is still muted just like any other cartomizer.

I'm gonna have to agree that all cartos I've tried have had a muted flavor to it. But, I don't like any DC's since the draw and performance in general are lacking compared to other cartos I've tried.
