Carto Refilling Glitch?

there's... *something* i'm doing, and i haven't quite figured out what, that messes up the airflow in the cartos, after refilling. i've watched the vids, and so forth, and i'm sure i'll eventually figure out what it is i'm doing--it's gotta be some lil quirky me-thing. but maybe someone else has had this prob or has an easy fix for the result, so i thought i'd post it.

basically, every now and then, i'll refill a cart, and then check to see if the light shines through end to end appropriately, and... it doesn't. not cause there's juice in the way, but because some of the batting or the wick has gotten moved. i *think* i'm being fairly gentle when i'm refilling them, but.... ? it's happened several times, and a couple i've fixed by very gently probing with a syringe to find where the obstruction is. but that's kinda a pain. so, does anyone know *what* i'm doing that makes this happen? the wick/tube is still perfectly visible and centered. and does anyone know an easier fix than playing 'operation' with a syringe?

it's not a huge deal cause i know they're s'posed to be disposable... and i haven't yet burned one up or been unable to refill it, so i'm *very* happy with the carto system. just curious bout this one thing.

So far I've only had one carto that plugged up after a couple uses, and I had to pitch it - I rinsed it out and tried putting a little juice in, but no joy. Otherwise, if I think I got a little too much juice in, I'll just gently blow through it into a Kleenex to get rid of any pooled juice.

I've stuck a needle down the middle to open it up before, perhaps the batting is compressing the atty and the little cloth tube around it?

t, i think that's what happening--i'm overfilling a bit and collapsing the tube. :hmm:

I killed my french toast cart the same way. Tried washing it but no luck. It just doesn't like me anymore

Thinking french toast might taste good in a cinnamon roll empty... mmmm cinnamon toast

french toast in a cinn roll cart would prob be pretty good.

I hope you were able to salvage the French Toast juice - that stuff is the nectar of the gods!

I learned from somewhere here on the forum not to waste the juice that I blow out. Someone on the forum suggested blowing into another cart but what i do is just blow it into a little tiny paint pot with a tiny lid (can get at any hobby lobby type store - 12 for a couple bucks).

Since I'm so very new to all this I have to blow out quite a few as I tend to get zealous in my refilling and over do it.

hmmm. i din' recall that part of checking for light from end to end. update on my vg/loranns mixes... not so good. really prefer the v4l carts.

i'm wondering if adding ice cream sundae to my white choc strawberry carts will be an option. i keep hoping to see white choc strawberry juice!
