So, I've been rocking clearos since day 1, as the peeps at the store I shop at always push them as the best juice delivery device on the market. They have a dusty shelf in the corner with a few cartomizers and carto tanks on it, but I never really paid any attention to it. Lately I've been reading more and more about DCT's, and a lot of people seem to prefer cartos to clearos, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Went to the shop and lucky me, they are on clearance for 5 bucks for a dual coil carto with a 6 ml tank. Bought 1, went out to my car, filled it, let the juice soak in for a few minutes, and then took a puff. A BIG puff. Made my windshield disappear. Long story short, went back in and cleared that dusty shelf right off and added another 6 carto tanks to my collection. They are fantastic. Great flavor, nice throat hit, huge clouds of vapor. I wish I would have tried one of these earlier on. I've got at least 50 assorted clearos at home and a shoebox full of spare parts. I honestly don't know if I'll ever use a clearo again. DCT is the way!!! I've been converted. The only problem I foresee is that changing flavors will essentially mean changing cartos as I can't see how one could clean the filler out completely. Other than that, these seem to be superior devices as far as I'm concerned

Im with you on this!
I wasted money on clearos and have a graveyard box of parts.

I got an asortment of cartos and for me i like the flanged, less leaking when removing driptips.
Usig ikenvapes i ruined two batteries! My tank slipped right off and juice went everywhere.

I have 4 glass smok dct 6 ml
And 1 ibtanked.

And i have 4 glass smok dct 3ml on the way!

Nothing beats a good carto-tank set-up. Taste, convenience, and capacity.

Is there a standard sized carto to fit all (or most) tanks? They don't have any at the shop I purchased them at as they were trying to clear them out. Apparently they don't sell around here. I need to get some replacements for when I burn these ones out or change flavours. Also, what's the general consensus as to who manufactures the superior carto? One coil or two? I will probably continue to use my iclear dual coil on my ego twist when I'm out and about, because that clearo is actually pretty awesome (even if it guzzles 3 mls an hour) and its quick, easy, not messy and looks good on my twist when I put the beauty ring on. I will primarily be using the carto tanks on my Vamo, or my powertube, for at home or in the car vaping. Love the vamo but its too dildo-esque in appearance to walk around vaping it, especially when its extended to its maximum size. Got a little side tracked there, but my question is what cartos will work best with my vamo and my power tube? Its my understanding that DCTs need to run at higher wattage than you get out of a standard ego in order to reach peak performance. Is this the case? Are dual coil cartos superior to single coil? I know my dual coil clearo kicks the crap out of any and all of my single coil ones. Does the same apply for cartos?
I know this is all subjective and a matter of taste but I'm looking for people's opinions

I was a dual coil clearo guy. Iclear 30 and 16's for the most part before switching to cartos. And have been quite happy with single coil cartos. specifically those around 2ohm.

The known premiere names in carto land are boge, smoktech and ikenvape.

As far as size, you obviously need a 510 carto(there are others). Then there are two standard sizes of 35mm and 45mm. or some label them as standard and XL. basically the 45 is taller than the 35. I do believe that the DCT uses 45mm cartos.

As far as single or dual coil? That is subjective imo. Much like the difference between the 3 brands I listed above. Best I can say is get some in different resistances from different vendors and try them to see which you prefer.

If you dont have a punch tool, also make sure you are getting ones that are prepunched. There are slotted kinds and ones with holes(typically 2, although there are ones with just 1 and up to 3 cut holes). That will mostly depend on the type of juice you vape. If you vape 100% VG, you may want to look for slotted or ones with 3 holes or punch another hole in a 2 hole one. If you are in the 50/50 range, you should not have an issue with any of them.

Just make sure you prime the carto well. Now where is Bad with his blog posts when you need him. :)

ETA: here, check out his blog posts. They cover many new carto tank user questions. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/

Generally speaking, there are two lengths of tanks and two lengths of cartomizers. An XL length carto will fit and function in a standard length tank, but the top part will stick out like a long drip tip. A standard length carto will be too short to function in an XL tank. The DCT tanks that you have will require the XL length cartos.

This will vary according to personal preferences. There are 3 major cartomizer manufacturers: Boge, Ikenvape, and Smoktech. I prefer Ikenvapes; to me they make better flavor and last longer.

Single vs dual coil is also personal preference. Dual coils are only made by Smoktech. Dual coils require more voltage due to powering 2 coils and will drain a battery slightly faster than a single coil. My experience is it can be difficult to keep the top coil wet enough in the carto, and this can lead to dry or burnt taste. I only use single coil carts.

My question is what cartos will work best with my vamo and my power tube? See my above comments for single vs dual coils. Cartos and clearos use two different wicking systems, so their performance will differ with single vs dual coil respectively speaking.

Using the correct resistance or ohm is important for best performance. Low resistance or standard resistance is used for fixed voltage batteries. Regulated mods like the Vamo should use a high resistance (2.5 - 3.0 ohm) carto for the widest range of voltages available. See the Safe Vaping Power Chart that is in the Vendor List for Cartomizers.

No. You can not put a carto inside a protank.
You sir, are completely incorrect. You can put a carto in a protank. You can put a raisin in there too. And at least 11 grains of rice. Pretty much anything that will fit through the opening, you can put in a protank. The laws of physics and your imagination are the only limit :)

Lol. Okay. You maybe able to physically insert a carto into a protank, but it ain't going to work like a carto tank without some serious modifications to its base and top.

A protank is not a cartotank.
