Carto Tank, Dark Juice: Possibly Black Wire?

I have a few carto tanks and several cartomizers from the same manufactuer. Various ohms and some single coil, some dual. What I am noticing is that certain liquids that are acidic are leeching from the black wire inside the carto and turning the liquid dark.

I have noticed at times it can happen in just 4 to 6 hours from a fresh fill and new carto.

But not all liquids have this effect. Only acidic fruit type liquids are doing this. I dont think its a specific flavor, but maybe an additive in the liquid such as malic acid.

Im going to take apart a new carto tonight and place the black wire in a small bottle of liquid and see what happens. Has anyone else noticed this or experimented with the wire insulation and how it reacts with liquids?

Edit: Also I wanted to mention the same liquid in a wireless carto does not produce the problem.

Uhmm.. First question is, what are you calling a wireless carto?

All cartos have two wires inside ( pos & neg ), some are just wrapped differently so that
you can't see the top wire going down to the coil.

Most of my flavors will "frost" the inside of a Smoktech tank, and the last half tank or so
of each fill starts to turn dark. Since I didn't want to be vaping whatever was sublimating
from the plastic tank and turning my juice dark, I recently started using glass tanks.

Now, when tanks first came out, some people asked why the juice was turning dark, and
several suggested the heat from the carto was the culprit. This sounded very plausible,
but since I started using glass, my juice stays perfectly clear.

By wireless, I mean the horz cartos that dont have the wire running verticaly down the center tube... I'm going to look into a glass tank. But the problem happens in as little as 6 hours without vaping. Seems very odd. Also that it only seems to be certain liquids.

Unflavored pg/vg does not produce the problem. Im still experimenting and hope to figure this out :D

I would be curious if you have the same problem with your liquid and his carto.

I filled a new single coil 3ohm last night (black wire present). Filled the tank. Didnt vape it and today the liquid went from yellow to brown. I know liquid can change color and get darker due to nicotine. But I have never seen this happen overnight and get that dark so fast.

Also loaded the same liquid into another tank with a horz coil (no wire) and its still yellow as it should be.

Unless the metal used between the two cartos is different (housing, coil, connector) I cant figure out why it happens with one type and not another. I keep going back to the wire theory.

The upside though is that the liquid tastes just fine to me. Its a nagging curiosity more than anything :p

here is the link to the cartos..... Boge 510 Cartomizers - 5/box - Vaperfexion
now i had the 2.0ohm ones from there and the wire had the insulator on it, but when i got the 3.0ohm ones they had a bare shiny metal
wire. A kid i work with is friends with their family they live locally to me (Syracuse, NY). They dont have a store front so i just have my friend grab stuff for me from them so i dont have to wait for shipping and he just brings them to work. I hope this helps you out. Oh and by the way the cartos do not come pre punched. There is an option to have them do it for you if you dont have a punch. Good Luck

Yeah it is hard to get the old studd out of them. Ive even washed, dried and washed again. Even still, there is the faint taste of what once was lol...

700ml's... Sounds like your pretty well set for liquid for a while. Thanks for your input on voltages. I have several different cartos and Im trying them out each week. Looking for the best voltages and such. It gives me a good starting point when I make my way to the lower resistance cartos.
