I'm assuming you're talking about a 510 cartomizer with a DCT tank? If so, hopefully some of these answers will clear things up...

1. 5 or 6ml tank for heavy vapors - will last 1 week even for a heavy vapor (such as myself).

2. Glass cylinders will last the longest because they can withstand darker ejuices and 'spicy' flavors. However, I've been using cheap $7 Boge F16 tanks and they've worked just fine, none have leaked so far.

3. Do NOT toss the tank unless the cylinder itself is leaking. You can keep refilling it for a long time, if not forever. The tank itself is made of 3 parts - top cover, cylinder, bottom cover.

http://ecigmodshop.com.au/images/uploads/Cartomizers/BogeF16-Structure.png

Replace any of these parts as needed. Think of the tank as the bottle for bottled water - no need to throw it away unless it's obviously overused, just refill it with water.

4. If the cartomizer is dead, replace it. In the entire tank setup, the cartomizer is really the only part you need to replace. Typically, a carto lasts 2 weeks if vaped on a daily basis.

Hope this helps!

DCT: "Dual Coil Tank." Don't mind the "Dual" in DCT. Baditude (an ECF member that has superb posts and knows much more about vaping than I ever could) said it perfectly in a previous post. DCT Tanks were initially meant for dual coil cartomziers but you can practically use single AND dual coil cartomizers on the tank. "DCT" was the tank's original name and it just sorta stuck.

Setup for VAMO: These are my preferences since I absolutely love cartomizers. Others will recommend clearomizers, vivi novas, etc... it's really just based on your prefernce. I will also give you links to where I get my supplies because they have fast shipping, low prices, reliable products, and best of all - FREE shipping! (min. $5 purchase)

o 510 cartomizer: single coil, 2-hole pre-laser punched, 3 ohms (majority go with this type, I personally love it).
o Boge F16 cartomizer tank: holds 4-5ml of liquid
o 18650 battery: make sure it's 2000mAh or more (lasts longer). IMO, stick with AW or EH or Efest brand batteries. Get 2 of these since you want to be using one while the other charges. Button top or flat top will work with VAMO - I prefer button top, but it shouldn't really matter. As long as it fits.
* EH IMR 18650 2000mAh
* AW High Drain 18650 2000mAh
* Efest IMR 18650 2250mAh
o Trustfire battery charger
o Tank refiller drip tip (this will make your life tons easier when refilling the tank with juice)

Great choice on picking the VAMO VV/VW! Always try to get the latest version of the model you're buying. I believe the VAMO V.2 is currently out.

I personally don't have the VAMO, but I have the ZMax (SmokTech) and Provari mini. Similar eCigs are the eVic (JoyeTech) and Tesla (iVape) and your VAMO (SmokTech). All are great variable voltage / variable wattage (VV/VW) devices. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose.

I have a friend that gets 2-3 days if he is lucky... He says "they start to taste bad" I use mine until you can actually tell a difference in flavor which seems to be about 1.5 to 2 weeks sometimes more. I always change them out when I change flavors though...

2-3 days??? Maybe he should buy from a different vendor :(

And yes, it's a very good idea to change them out whenever you change flavors.

I buy my juice in 30 ml bottles. I am constantly changing up flavors. I found the best way is to cut the top off the plastic caps that come with the cartos and slip that over the hole. I put the rubber mouthpiece back in the top and use another plastic cap to cover that. Then I put the carto on the juice bottle with a rubber band. So far the carto always last the life of the bottle of juice.

Sometimes it can be over a week before I come back to a previous flavor and so far i have had none dry out or die on me storing them this way.

I've have run accross that and thought that it was the cartomizer that was bad, but after fiddling I've found that it was the fact that the holes in the carto were too small for the juice I was using (boba's bounty). The thicker and darker juices can sometimes be more finicky in cartos from my expierence. If im worried that a particular juice may have wicking/absorbing issues I just poke another hole or use a punch with a larger OD.

There is a shop that I've ran across that has quality dct cartos and nice tanks as well. .. they sell actual smok cartos and I get upwards of nine days on a two ohm carto in my privari before it gets weak And I toss it for a new one. Shot is how you stay on top of keeping it primed and such. I use a dark juice called swagger and its noctorious for killing cartos. Feel free to pm me as I don't like to post vendors on here that aren't registered users.

As for how long a carto tank will last...that depends on how many mls. a day you vape. A 6ml. tank lasts me about a day. Then I have to refill to finish off the night. (I vape approx. 8-10 ml. a day)

A good carto ought to last with between 20 and 40 ml. run through it. Sometimes more, if you are lucky. You can clean the carto if you want (whatever method you choose...there are lots of suggestions on Google). I generally toss mine. I figure after running as much juice as I do through it...it's probably not going to last much longer even if I do clean it. The coil is going to burn out anyway. I may hang onto a particularly good carto...thinking maybe I'll clean it. But I haven't really cleaned any cartos since last summer. Bear in mind that clear juice that has more PG than VG will make your cartos last longer. A dark heavy VG juice is going to gunk up MUCH faster.

You can refill your tanks countless times. Pretty much until they break, I guess. Do give them a nice cleaning about once a week to keep the O rings in good shape. Be careful that you don't nick or damage those O rings in there! Keep them lubed up and use a tank refilling tool to protect them when sliding your carto up and down and in and out. (..that just sounded wrong...)

I've had best luck with Boge in carto tanks, although the Ikenvape Platinum (when you can get them) also do pretty good.

Great post with lots of good info. Is there a preferred place you'd recommend to get the VAMO V.2 for a reasonable price?

What do you lube them with?

FWIW Ikenvape cartos are in a league all their own. I tried Smok and Boge and they only lasted a few days. I'm on 8 days so far with my Ikencarto.

That is if you can get them. They sell out, as soon as they are listed for sale . . . Amazing!!!!

And yes, it's a very good idea to change them out whenever you change flavors.

Thick dark flavors can gunk up a carto in a matter of days. Lighter thinner juices are easy on cartos and as long as they don't get burnt they can last 1 to 2 weeks. As soon as they start tasting bad or they are hard to draw they are done. Occasionally after using for awhile they can start to flood and that can also indicate it's time for a new carto.

The most important thing is to get the carto completely filled on the initial fill up. If not it will taste burnt and then will have to be pitched.

You've done your research!! Those IBTanks are spectacular if you can afford them! And no, you shouldn't need an adapter. They'll work great by themselves on a VAMO.

I'm just glad to help out fellow vapors. To be honest, I really haven't researched the best price for a VAMO, sorry. I literally just learned about it from this thread and looked it up. We're all learning here :)

You can use some of your e-juice, or just some PG or VG...whatever's handy.

Ikenvape Platinum cartos ARE good..but not "invincible". I've had some very good luck with most of them, but some aren't so great. Pretty close to the same odds as the Boge, really. At least in a carto tank. And I opened a new one over the weekend to use on my VMOD, and it started tasting funky awful fast. My juice is light (nearly clear) menthol 85PG/15VG. This particular Ikenvape carto is NOT doing well. I have a cheapie Smok cartos going too...and it's been working longer and tasting better by far. It's just a crap shoot. Every box of cartos is subject to the possibility of having a dud or two. Ikenvapes are good, but not infallible. None of them are.
