First, typing on my iphone stinks so apologies if wording or spelling ends up odd ;)

bought my first cartotank from ibtanked
primed my first carto and fantastic vape and used until a week old when holes released slightly darker juice when vaping.
primes second carto the same way and draw was really stiff and got harder as each day passed. Been about 5-6 days and i decided to go ahead and swap for my last carto (already ordered a bunch more plus more tanks this week)
primed last carto really well, fluid oozed out of holes while it sat for an hour or so. I have had a wicked migraine all day so ive been laying down and not vaping.
swapped carto and vaped and on very very tail end of exhale it tastes a bit like burned paper?
when i smell down driptip i cant smell anything burned and its faint. I keep checking my hands and sniffing air thinking it could be something else.
no way i could have prepped carto better. Dripped and shook, dripped and shook, etc until fluid oozed and then let it sit awhile.

am i doing something? Fluke first worked so well? Bad cartos?
they are the LR smok xl cartos i bought from ibtanked....

this stinks, i was loving the tank :/

How many holes and what is the pg/vg ratio of your juice? It almost sounds like the carto isn't being fed fast enough.

Have you heard about Fiddling with your Thingy (IBTanked calls it this) to prime your carto? You take a fresh carto in a full tank and stick it in the container (IBTanked calls this a Thingy) your tank came in. Twist the cap on and off until a drop comes out of the bottom hole of the carto. Yuor carto is now primed. Just refill the tank and you're good to go. Way faster than priming the carto drop by drop.

If you use an ibtanked, then you should have the thingy. It is the only way I prime anymore. Simple, quick and efficient.

I know how to prime the old fashioned way, as I started out with straight cartos, but the thingy method is just easier.

Okay, now onto the tight draw. I have had that happen. Typically, it is a bad carto. It happens occasionally, although rarely in my experience. It is also device dependent with airflow. If you unscrew the tank and take a drag off of it without it connected to a device, if it has a tight draw then, it is the carto. No tight draw, it is the airflow to the device. Sometimes just screwing it down to much can cause that issue if your device does not have separate airflow control or if you are using a beauty ring and have it all the way up.

As far as the burned paper, I guess it could be a burned carto as well. Although typically, when I have burned a carto...I know it. There is no slight taste about it, although I guess it is possible you could have slightly burned it.

The question about what juice is a good one as well. Some higher vg juice may require a 3rd hole to be punched, or the use of the slotted cartos. You may also want to try a standard resistance carto instead of the low resistance carto. I typically only use the low resistance, but everyone is different.

What voltage or watts are you vaping at btw? That obviously can have an impact on things as well.

One other bit of advice, when I am first vaping on a brand newly primed carto, I crank the volts or watts all the way down. To like 5 watts. take a few hits, crank it up to 6. Take a few hits, crank it up to 7. then take a few hits and crank it up to 8(which is where I vape at typically). I dont know if it helps or not, but it seems like a good idea on a newly primed carto to get it going.... And it only needs to be done when you just primed the carto, not everytime you fill the tank. Call it the break in period.

I do the same thing just to be safe and take a few underpowered primer puffs but not too many. Almost like a short break in period before i start using it heavily. I also keep an eye for bubbles rising in the juice from the holes until im sure its primed properly. Then its near set and forget until it needs more juice. I use mine at 7watts on a 1.7-1.8ohm single coil carto. A 1.5ohm dual coil is usually set at 8.5-9watts. The juice will tell you what it likes sometimes too. Just one watt can really change the flavor

If I recall, you are a new Provari owner? Is this what you are using?

If so, why are you using LR cartomizers? Standard or high resistance (2.5 - 3.0 ohm) is recommended for the Provari.

I use IKV 510-Fusions (3.0 ohm standard resistance) and IKV Platinum (2.5 ohm standard), and Smoktech 3.0 ohm as my backups on my Provari's.

If you are using dual coil cartos, switch to single coil.

A couple of years ago I read some similar thread when I was having the same problems. I used to be so excited when I got a new tank I wanted to use it right away. In the thread mentioned Someone suggested priming over night. I started doing this , leave rubber thing on the bottom end fill with 20 or 30 drops let sit 8 10 hours blow out excess lightly wipe off and pop in tank. I havent burned a cart in a long time.

Also I like a real airy draw so I drill out cart air holes just a little bit.

Single coil bad ;)

I think #2 was bad-ish, even naked it was like trying to suck a tennis ball through a gardenhose!
#3 has stopped tasting burnt... Dunno why.

I was quite happy with 2.2 ohm clearo coils on zmax, so i opted to stay in same range with cartos and try a higher one later. Im all about "if it aint broke..." Mantra!

Sometimes if its sat upright for a bit mine will do that, have a bad taste for a few hits. So if its been awhile since i vaped, i just pop of the drip tip and drop maybe 3 drops on the filler, replace tip, take some fake vapes... Hit with out firing button. Then vape on a lower wattage than usual, just a hit, turn it up a bit for the next hit, then put it where i want it.

Good,luck
