Carto Tank spitting liquid into my mouth - does this mean the carto is spent?

Hi :)

I just started using glass carto tanks - I love them because they are beautiful, the vape is awesome, and they are fuss-free once you get them set up (super easy to refill the tank - takes 3 seconds).

I have one IBTanked tank that I have been vaping on for three weeks - still going strong with the first carto - no change in flavor or function. The carto in this tank is a Smok 3.2 ohm single coil 2 hole (machine drilled) standard resistance, and I am vaping it on an eGo Twist at 4.8 volts (likely the actual volts are lower than the stetting, especially after the battery's been used for an hour or so).

The second tank was hand blown by The Glassman, and he sent a couple cartos along with. I am not sure what brand they are, but they are definitely low resistance and hand punched. The low resistance part is awesome because it made this tank the only item I have that works on my mech mod (until I get a rebuildable). This is the tank that is spitting liquid into my mouth - after only a week of use. (The flavor is fine though.) Vaping it on a mechanical in 18650 mode.

So is it the carto, the tank, the voltage? Combination of all? Are some cartos just far superior to others? Is spitting a sign that this cart is ready to be disposed?

Thanks for your insight - I love learning as I go.

It's not likely the tank. The tank is just a juice reservoir for the carto. The issue involves the carto.

Did this carto alway spit juice from the beginning, or just recently? Heard any difference in the sound while vaping (gurgling)? Tasted any un-vaporized juice from the drip tip? The carto might be flooded.

There are differences in quality from one brand cartomizer to another. A low resistance carto will be burning juice hotter, and especially if it happens to be dual coil, which would have a second heating coil closer to the drip tip. Are you getting any snap, crackle, or pop sound?

Are these single or dual coil carts? I guess you don't know since they just came with the tank.

If the air flow is good (not tight or difficult) when you pull vape and you don't hear gurling, it must not be flooded. I've never experienced a carto that spit at me. How rude.

The Ocelot had these really weird cartomizers that had string wicks like a clearomizer, and filler material at the top of the carto, too. Maybe ask her opinion. I don't know if her's spit. If they did, she'd likely swat it like an Ocelot.

LOL... OK so spitting is not a sign that the carto itself is ready to dispose? How will I know when to toss them - will the flavor change?

Edit - OK now it's hard to draw on as well.

It sounds like your carto is spent. I run 1.5 ohm dual coil carts at 14 watts all day every day. Usually in about a week's time they start to draw stiffly, flood, and finally spit juice if I actually push it that far. Admittedly the spitting as the first symptom I haven't experienced, but I'd almost guarantee swapping the carto will solve your problem.

A low resistance cart at a given voltage will run hotter thus wear out sooner, it will also let / cause you to vape more ejuice faster. I am a fairly heavy vaper and when using Evods and other bottom coil clearos I use 3 to 4 ml per day. On the other hand when I use a duel coil, 1.5Ohm carto in a tank I can go thru 3 ml in 4 or 5 hours. These rates are using the same devices for both running the same volts and or same watts.

IMO the cartos in tanks subdue the flavors thus I tend to draw harder / longer to get more flavor from them. Only thing I like about tanks with cartos is that they are simple, mostly trouble free and cartos are only arout $2 and if one shops around and waits for sales sometimes less than $1 each. I DIY my juice so cost of ejuice is less than 10 cents per ml so no big deal using several times as much as with the Evods.
