I'm not getting any responses in the tank session so can anybody here chime in? I'll copy and paste what I wrote there:

As the title states, do I look for the same slushy looking filament as I would when using the cartomizer by itself? I'm looking at the top of the carto (after taking off the drip tip) and it looks pretty dry. I punched two holes in my carto in my phiniac tank and its vaping well for the time being. But I'm worried the carto might not be wicking properly? How do I know my carto is wicked well besides waiting for the dreaded dry/metal hit? I'm using a high VG juice, probably 60-70vg and 40-30pg. Or should I assume only the bottom will be wicked and not come up to the top?

The top will look dry, even with 2 holes. I'm using 50/50 mix right now in my Phiniac with 3 self-punched holes in my Boge carto but even with that, the top looks dry but it is not. No burned taste, no dry hits, it's wicking beautifully. If you see a slushy top after vaping, you'll probably get gurgling, too, as the carto is probably flooding......... Dry look on top is perfectly normal once you start vaping. As long as you don't taste burned, you're good to go. :)
