Seems a lot of ProVari users also use carto tanks. I've never been a carto fan, but dove in, have two carto tanks and 3-4 more in work. Don't really like the prepunched flanged single coil cartos I bought to start with. For starters the dual holes were way too small; don't know if I like the flange either yet, etc. So I'll be experimenting with carto's for a while to find my niche.

I didn't have a carto punch, was just using an ice pick. Naturally I took one too deep and ruined the carto. So today I ordered a carto punch. The Atmizoo Pecker looked good, but not in stock that I could find. So after much ado with so many to chose from and so many out of stock I settled on my second choice and ordered a DC FUB Special Edition from VIP Vapor Cigs. Looks to be a pretty good one, ought to be for the price.

Anybody have one that can offer pro's/con's from actually using one?

Thanks.

That thing looks pretty awesome, let us know how it works. I generally just buy the pre punched dual hole cartos and even with boba bounty which I think is 100 vg, it wicks fine. Anyway, hope it works! Btw, there seems to be alot of "stuff" that is out of stock.....business must be booming in the vape world!

I use those dual hole cartos with 100% VG too. Once in while I'll start to have the dry/burn taste when I chain vape. Let us know how the punch works. I thought the Kir Fanis punch looked heavy duty. That one is, wow, industrial looking.
At first I didn't like the flanged cartos because of the gap it left between the tank and top cap(or beauty ring). Soon after, flanges became a safety net for me. Too many times I pulled flangeless cartos out of the tank and spilled e-juice all over. I'm just too absent minded maybe.

I can relate to that!! I still have some of both, and last night, I just emptied a tank of juice changing out a tight driptip with a non flanged carto...damn I was ......!!

By enlarging the hole size I have great feed, no dry/burnt taste, etc. But besides the small hole size, one of the things I don't like about the prepunched is the holes are way too high up in the tank. There is alot of juice still in the tank when you get down below the holes. Just above the bottom cap of the tank is where they belong IMO. The tanks I have so far are IBT, and with a Loki ring the flanged cartos don't prevent the tank from being all the way down on the ring.... so no gap. When I get the 3 custom Phiniac tanks and a Big Daddy I don't know if that will change though. I also need to do some research on single verses dual coil cartos.

I pulled one out in the car. Luckily I was parked but still spilled all over my slacks. I watch Thor smelling like Five Pawns Gambit :p

Flanged cartos shouldn't be needed in an IBTanked or Phiniac. They fit cartos very snug.

I've not had any problems with 2 hole pre-punched cartos (Ikenvape or Smoktech) wicking adequately with 50/50 ratio.

Not a fan of tool-punched cartos. Inevitably this deforms the barrel of the carto from round to oval, which causes trauma to the o-rings in the end caps which can cause leaking and inner tank pressure issues.

I also recommend a tank tool like IBTanked sells or the Slap Yo Moma from Big Daddy Vapor.

Agree, the flanged carto is not needed. But they also are not a problem at all with IBT tanks and a Loki ring either. Have not heard from Jennifer for days, so no idea where its at for the 3 custom Phiniac tanks we've been working out.
The prepunched Smok carto's I bought don't have as big of holes as I want, simple as that. And I am sure I will be buying/trying carto's that are not prepunched. I have quite a few various ohm Boge carto's that I could use if punched as well.
One of the reasons I picked this punch, it supposedly won't flatten the carto like some others do with its cobalt point. Regardless, it will have better control to enlarge holes with than an ice pick.
I have a tank tool from IBT, it works just fine. When I order a Big Daddy tank I'll also get a SYM as well.

I havent done it yet, but i figure it's only a matter of time if i keep using boges without the flange. I prefer smok cartos anyway, which come with a flange so I'll stick with them in future. I would try Ikenvape but they arent available in the UK (or only old ones at expensive prices)

I agree the hole(s) do tend to be a bit high. Strangely, in the UK we only seem to have single hole (no dual or slotted) and all the pre-punched cartos tend to be dual coil too.

Agree 100%. Now that I'm getting use to the carto tanks, I'm also finding that the prepunched ones seem to have the holes too high and wonder if there's a reason for this?? It would seem a lower punched hole would be way more beneficial for using more of the tanks juice before topping off or having to clean out.

I have yet attempted to use a non flanged and not really wanting to punch my own but may have to look I to this eventually.

The carto tanks are growing on me too after having never using them before simply because I didn't like carto's. That was based on the ones that came with my first PV, Halo G6gear that I immediately only used mini tanks on. All the Kanger gear I have (Protanks, EVOD's, Mini T3's, etc) have been on forced vacation since I started using the first IBT tank a week plus ago. They might even be reassigned to permanent retirement. IOW these tanks are a great step up from the Kanger gear that I never really liked anyway. Seems fitting, other than The Don all my other devices have been idle since my two ProVari were delivered.

I have been using a syringe/blunt tip to unload the left over liquid when making a flavor change. I think that can be avoided by simply punching the carto's lower to use up almost all that's in the tank instead of dedicating it to be used up in an atty. I've have not done any "exploritory surgery" on these carto's, but the logical assumption for being punched higher would be to avoid the coil post in the bottom of the carto. Personally I don't see that as valid, they don't have to punched that deep, so when I get the punch ordered some unflanged Boge cartos I have on hand will be punched just above the tank bottom caps and tried out. The carto will be stronger there too by default, so less likely to be forced out of round.
