Hi, everyone....i'm having cartomizer issue with my tanks. my carto. doesn't last long. only last one week then clogged up. can't suck anymore. i asked some of my friends, their carto. last more then a month. Am I doing anything wrong? or Am I missing something? I put enough juice inside the carto. every time i change the new one. I put 20 drops on 35mm carto and 30 drops on 45mm carto. i made juice hole bigger and have two holes. it should last at least two weeks or more but mine is too short, only one week. Please help, carto are cheap $3 a piece but when you add up over the time, it's a lot of money. Thanks.

Hi Winston. Some people find that their cartos only last from a few days to a week. Yours lasting a week is certainly not out of the norm at all. I find that the vliquid plays a huge part in how long a carto will last. I have some "Twilite" from Nitelitevapor that is so carto friendly, I can keep refilling it for weeks on end. Other liquids, especially dark or sweet, will 'clog' a carto in a short time.

What vliquid are you using?

As far as carto filling goes, this is one of the best blogs out there. I think it's a must-read for anyone who uses cartomizers.

Also, you can get Boge cartos for about a dollar a carto at Surevapes with their multi-pack deal.

A lot of factors play into the length of life on a cartomizer.

1) Flavor of juice. Sweeter and darker liquids tend to clog cartomizer and clearomizer coils a lot faster than lighter or less sweeter juices. Sweeter juices and those with a lot of flavoring, tend to get gooey or gummy a lot faster, building up gunk, carbon, and residue quicker, which chokes and coats the coil a lot faster. Darker liquids like coffees and such, same principle.

2) Higher VG and thicker juices fall prey quickly to the choke and coating symptoms due to the base that is used. A 70PG/30VG to 100PG/0VG juices are not going to build residue as fast as a 50PG/50VG blend, which is less than a 30PG/70VG or 0PG/100VG blends will do

I do not know how your friends maintain their cartos, but there are a couple of things you can do that might and might not work to extend your cartos life. General cleaning as far as cartos go, about the only one that can help is to boil your cartos in water, let cool, then blow out and let dry upside down on a towel or paper towel. This can extend the carto life by about a week, possibly more, but generally a week of service, the moment you start feeling a drop in perfomance and air flow, the damage is already done, and nothing can really help, there is a point when you start to notice the point air flow is starting to get restricted, the carto needs boiling to clean or soak is say vodka or everclear to clean up that gunk, go past that point, continued use from then on is compounded upon.

What ratio juice are you using? Is it on the darker side? What brand carto?

You could have your holes too big. Your juice could just be one of those ones that clogs cartos quick. High VG will do that too. Boges will clog quicker than Smoktechs. Finally, $3 a carto is too much. I just paid $1.79 for Smoktechs at Hoosier.

Too much of a clueless newb to help, but...

What is the VP to PG ratio of your juice?

Do you chain vap or take deep, hard pulls?
If your like me, trying to get a tankless carto to glow like a cherry, well... that 'ill get a nasty burnt taste real quick :)

Seriously, I don't use tanks, but the single coil mega cart's from Crystal Clear only last me a 5 days of heavy hard use out in the steel yard. 100% VG Boba's will clog up even a new clearo pretty fast, just sayin'.

First of all, let me say that trying to clean & re-use cartomizers are a waist of time. They will never be as good as new. These were designed to be disposable. You somehow likely spent up to $5 a day on cigarettes and thought nothing of it. Getting a week out of a $2 cartomizer is a bargain.

As others have said before me, factors on PG/Vg and the darkness of the flavor play a large part in how long a carto will last. How heavy a vapor you are plays a big part too. Chain-vaping will shorten a cartomizers life expectancy - plan to have multiple cartotanks set up simultaneously to give each tank a break. It won't actually prolong the life expectancy but it will seem like it to you.

How you prime your cartomizer the very first time will determine the overall life and performance of that carto. Take a look at the method of setup that I recommend in the link that Katdarling linked to. I don't believe you were putting using enough juice when you primed. I also recommend that you get one of the tank tools that is suggested in the link. It will make your tank setup faster and easier, and protects your tank's o-rings.

Try not to get too frustrated. Cartotanks have a learning curve. The more experience you gain the more proficient you will become and gain more satisfaction from your tanks.

Here's a large list of online vendors that sell pre-punched cartomizers: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3295-2-sample-list-vendors-selling-pre-punched-single-coil-cartomizers-cartotanks.html
