Hi everyone, I am still new to vaping, and new to cartomizers. I have been priming my cartos based on advise from this forum and from baditude ( many thanks to you man ). I just have a few more questions please.

1 - How much e juice to use when priming a standard and an XL carto? Was wondering how many ML for each. I know most of you know what you are doing and don't count the drops but go by looking at it. But for a beginner like me, is there an approximate amount of juice I should be using? I have read 20 - 30 drops. How many for a standard and how many for an XL ? If you have the ML and drop amount that would be helpful.

will be using smoketech and ikenvape prepunched cartos by the way

2 - I read and saw youtube videos of once priming is complete the person will below into the carto to make sure there is no liquid in the center. Does it really matter where you blow from? The battery end or the filling end?

Thank you all once again.

If you follow the method I use in my cartotank setup guide, you won't need to count ml or drops, nor have to blow out the tank. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3710-5-cartomizer-tank-setup.html

The method is clearly stated step by step. By putting a wood tooth pick into the air hole of the carto, there will be no reason to blow out the tank. You won't need to count drops or measure ml of juice because you can visually observe how saturated the filler becomes as you add juice and shake it down like a thermometer. It will then be ready to vape; no need to let the tank "set up" like the condom method requires.

My guess is that a standard cartomizer will hold 1 ml of juice; an XL carto will hold 1.5 ml of juice. My math conversion is poor to convert ml to drops.

If you ever encounter the need to blow out the tank's air hole (ie flooding issues), it's best to turn the tank upside down and blow into the drip tip, ensuring that the carto's wick holes are in the air space of the tank. This prevents forcing even more juice into the cartomizer. Be sure to have a paper towel to catch the juice you blow out.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks Baditude for your detailed response. I do use the tooth pick as instructed but I guess my problem is when do I know when to stop. When I place liquid it gets saturated, then I place more and gets saturated again, finally I feel like I put more liquid than I have to. That's why I was curios about how much to put per drop or per ml.

When you stated to turn the tank upside down and blow in it, I am basically turning my head back if you will to do this, right? Just want to make sure since it seems like an awkward position.

I just continue adding more juice and shaking it. At some point of repeatingly doing this, you'll see that the filler will accept no more juice and begin to collect on top of the filler. It is then primed and ready to vape.

That is correct. As I tried to explain, and perhaps it wasn't clear, if you blow into the tank when the cartomizer's wick holes are in the juice of the tank, you encourage MORE juice to go into the tank. You want to blow into the tank only when the wick holes are in the air part of the tank. Air in the already flooded carto is not as detrimental as too much juice.

So whatever position it takes to accomplish this...

Nice info in here :) Do you have to top off your cartos once in a while? I've been using them for a few weeks and it seems like I need to drip e liquid in there again to get the fullness of flavor I had at the start. I'm going to buy toothpicks this week as I haven't used those when filling in the past.

I'd like to know this too actually.

You dont have to, but it also doesn't hurt anything to do so. When I do my tank re-fills, sometimes I add some to the cartomizer too and sometimes I don't. It may add to getting back to that fullness of flavor of a new carto. However, a carto will never taste as nice as it does when brand new and properly primed for the first time.
