Cartomizer Problem

I'm somewhat new to vaping and I'm loving it. I started using atomizers and I really don't like them. I switched to cartomizers and the taste they produce is amazing. I noticed that when I open up a new cartomizer and fire it for the first time I can see a red light inside the cartomizer. This only happens to a few of them, so I figured, hey, they're probably bad cartomizers. I bought two 5 packs of boge 3.2 ohm cartomizers and ALL of them had this problem. I started thinking maybe its because there is not enough juice in them so I flooded the cartomizer and let it sit for a while. And it worked fine but a after about 5 puffs I get this disgusting taste. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can someone please help me out.

I tried using the search engine to see if something similar was posted, but I couldn't find anything.

You might have just gotten a bad batch! Contact the vendor you purchased them from and inform him or her about the defective cartos! They're usually cool about replacing them since you have so many! I hope this helps!

I too am alittle confused by the fact that you can see down inside and see a red light. I'm thinking it must be something
with a clear tank, like a clearomizer. If that's the case, you might be tasting the plastic that the tank is built out of. I tried clearomizers, and didn't like them because I could taste the plastic. I've gone to the tank with the carto inside and am enjoying these ALOT more.

What kind of cartomizers do i need to get if I'm mainly going to be using them on a 510? I mean......I have an eGO, but usually use a tank on it. Want to get some cartos for my 510......but I get confused about the ohms. Can someone please help me out? I read somewhere i should get 3.0 ohms for a 510.....is that correct?

Hi and welcome to ECF. I never had the issue of red hot coil in my cartos. The first fill of a carto is VERY, VERY, VERY important. You'd be amazed at how slowly the juice seeps throughout the stuffing. I use the condom method from the inhale end and the batt end. Also another reason I use a tank- no problem keeping the carto fully saturated.
"5 puffs and disgusting taste"- I'm willing to bet the carto is dry and the filler is getting burned and thus the taste.
Good Luck.

You can post these kind of questions on the "general" forum- you'll still get plenty of help :) 510 is the name for the type of threads that you have on your battery and the equipment. You buy your stuff based on the thread type AND the OHMS by the Voltage of your battery. Generally the higher the voltage of your battery, the higher the OHMS.

For the egos- anything over 2.5 ohms is too cool, anything under 1.7 may damage your battery.

Confusingly, they call some smaller cig-type batteries "510"s. These don't have much power and you need to usually buy the 2.5 Ohms carto/attys.

5volts batteries and up usually use the 3.0 and up Ohms.

Yes as the poster mentioned 510 is the threading type. It also depends on the mah of your eGO in regards to the cartomizers you can use.

I purchased 15 Boge 3.0ohm cartomizers recently and had what you describe as the red hot.

I opened the cartomizers filled each one syringe and let them sit came back filled them using the condom method. Out of the 15 I only got 2 of them to work.

The coils get instantly red as soon as I press the button and smoke(smells like a woodstove) just comes right out of the top and bottom of the cartomizer.

I contacted my vendor as I have never had this happen especially with so many.

I am seeing lots of other complaining about the instant red hot coils I wonder if something is going on out there :(

Ok.......I have an eGO 900mAH, and several "cig style" 510s. I have 510 attys.....no LRs......also have bud tanks, 510 tanks, and 510 clearomizers. By clearomizer, I'm talking about the one where the wires and wick runs from too to bottom.....and the mouthpiece is a lil black rubber drip tip looking thingie. Abt the same diameter as the cig type batteries. What do I use on what?

I can't be CERTAIN that you've burned your cartos but in my opinion it's the most obvious suspect for what you're describing.

Do not fire up a new cartomizer without being sure that it's fully saturated with juice. Once you burn the wick and/or the filling material in your carto, that awful taste will never go away.

Do a quick youtube search of cartomizer filling methods and find one you like. After filling, let it sit for 5 minutes or more to make sure that all the filling down to the wick/heating element is saturated before you vape.

    Hope that helps
