Hello all. I am, like many others, quite new to these forums. I had a couple questions that I haven't been able to get answered through the search so I figured I'd just ask them and stop lurking.

Background: I recently purchased a KR808D-1 Starter Kit. The information here was fantastic and this looks like it'd be the easiest to use for a newbie. The kit came with 5 pre-filled cartos (16mg) and I added in 5 more pre-filled in a different flavor. I currently smoke 3/4 to 1 pack a day of Marlboro Light 100s. (I'm not a puffer and tend to hold my breath with each drag. My husband says I look like I'm smoking pot.)

1. How long should I expect these 10 cartos to last me? From my understanding, they have around .5 to 1 ml of juice. We haven't smoked in the house and I have no intention of vaping inside either.

2. I've 'quit' smoking a couple of times using different methods. Once was with nicotine patches and I found that I had some pretty intense dreams while using those. I ended up taking them off before bed to avoid those dreams. Should I expect something similar with vaping?

I'm just trying to figure out if I need to order some blank cartos and juice now or wait until I test out the KR8.

Thanks for all the great information and any answers you can provide to these questions.

Edit note: Looks like question 1 was sort of answered in a recent post I'd missed in a search. It figures!

i'm no expert but, i know in my exp. i would have needed more than those few cardo's to get off the smokes. i use a diff device and have used juice the whole time either dripping, using cards or cardomizers. if it were me, i'd order more juice, prefilled cardos or whatever your choice might be. when i first starteda bout a month and a half ago i would have ran through a card in like a few hours. i found myself filling the empty cards i had about 4 times or more a day. i was a pack a day smoker, also light 100 smoker. in the last 2 or 3 days i've gone through about 5 or 6 mils of juice but i'm also using a low res atty and dropping. i get about 6 to 10 solid puffs before i have to drip 3 more drops in. i'm nto sure if any of this info is going to help you but if it were me, i'd start ordering now if your trying to replace the cigs with your new pv. enjoy and good luck

When I tried the patch I to had wild, vivid dreams. I kinda liked it the first couple of nights. But I wasn't getting rested and after a week I was a walking zombie.

When I quit, I didn't notice an enhancement of my dreams do to vaping. I was restless the first week and tossed a lot waking up many times during the night.

But I did it wrong for me. I started vaping at 18mg which was way too low for me. I moved up to 32mg and everthing settled down with my sleep and the cravings.

Now I've pulled back to 32 -> 28 -> 24 -> 18mg

I wouldn't rule this out right away; remember, it's not smoke. It's vapor and it vanishes almost as quickly as it appears and leaves no odor or stains. Well, some of the flavored juices leave a smell but it's usually pleasant. :)

I have a KR808D-1 (Vapor King). I think it's great.

I go through 2-3 cartos in a day. Chances are you're going to playing with your "new toy" a lot in the beginning so you may go through those 10 cartos quickly.

The thing to remember is ordering supplies takes a few days. I have been getting my orders in about 3 days. Longer if there's a weekend thrown in.

If you want to wait to try out the KR808D-1 first at least start looking at where you are going to place your liquid order from while you're waiting for your kit to come in. Test it, and if you like it, place your next order.

No one says you have to quit smoking the first day. Don't put that kind of pressure on yourself.

As far as liquids, in the beginning, find a vendor that sells smaller trial sizes and try a bunch of different flavors, strengths and PG/VG mixes to see what you like. It's a tad more expensive to order smaller sizes but it's worth it to figure out what you like and will be less frustrating than having to wait another 3 days because you didn't like something.

Good luck!

I've been stealth vaping in my office at work yesterday and today. My office is only 10 by 10 feet and no one has noticed a thing. One side effect, though is my .... is getting numb. I used to get up and walk outside every hour.

Oh, it's not so much the odor as it is trying to make smoking or vaping more difficult. It also gives me an opportunity to let the dogs out and water my plants plus I get a small dose of Vitamin D.

If I were to vape in the house, I'd probably end up doing it nonstop at first. While that wouldn't be as bad as smoking, the cost of switching would increase rather dramatically.

From what I've read, I agree that it wouldn't leave the residue. I just don't want the temptation to do it in the house.

Thanks for all the great information! Based on the input, I decided to order a couple of sampler packs of the juice and a few more cartos. Cost-wise, refilling cartos just seems like a better option. Since I'm a rather frugal person (and my husband is an accountant - nuff said ), I'd like to see a cost savings to vaping over smoking. Certainly the health considerations are paramount, but I'll have an easier time of getting my husband to switch if he sees me being successful doing so and saving money.

I'm curious about how many vaping 'hits' folks take to equal one analog? Does it require more, less, or about the same? I know that I often am ready to put an analog out about halfway to three quarters through but don't want to 'waste' it.

Satharra, order more juice now! I was a pack-a-day smoker and I currently go through more than 3 ml a day. I used more juice when I started. It takes at least 2 days to get your juice. This fact was something I had to learn quickly. It's no fun to run out of juice if you're determined not to smoke.

Done! Thanks! :D

Should have 10 3ml samples coming my way. Hopefully that'll last me a week unless I get a wild hair and have to try all of them at once.

Hi and welcome.

I'm a former 3/4 - 1 PAD Camel Lights smoker who still smokes 2 or 3 analogs a day so far. I've been vaping a KR8 for 9 days now and I've gone through about a dozen 16-18mg cartos. Of course your usage may be different, but 10 cartomizers is cutting it pretty close. If you run out before you're completely off the analogs for good you'll be right back where you started before you know it.

I'm curious about this question still and didn't want it to get lost in the previous pages. Anyone that can shed some light on it?

I tend to vape more often, though just a handful of inhales at a time, than I smoked. First, because I can do it (like in my office, where smoking is forbidden), and second, because e-cigs lack something called MAOIs found in regular cigarettes.

(Nicotine causes an increase in dopamine -- the feel good part of smoking. MAOIs delay the breakdown of dopamine.)

Other times, just sitting at a computer, chain-vaping as it were, I'll switch to a lower nicotine mix, since I'm getting plenty of nic.

Thanks for the explanation. I hadn't considered the MAOIs and such. That makes perfect sense now. Guess I'll anticipate wanting to vape more than I smoke at first.

That does make me wonder, though, if the drop in MAOIs may cause some issues with my husband's anxiety trouble. May have to check with his doctor on that one or be prepared to change dosage on his meds.

Thanks again!

I don't mean this to sound trite at all, but the sooner you quit needing to compare vaping to smoking, the sooner you'll be on your way to leaving smoking behind. I personally vape more often than I smoked, and I'm good with that. You may have a totally different experience and trust me, when you ditch the cigs for good, you'll be good with what works for you.

Everyone can give their opinions and their experiences, but yours will be uniquely yours.....and tell your husband, I was a two packer and now vape my head off for $1.25 a day.

VAPE ON!

Not trite at all and much appreciated. It's sometimes difficult to wrap your head around something that appears to be entirely new. I know that I tend to always try to compare the known to the unknown as a way to scaffold my understanding.

$1.25 a day?! Wow! That's darned impressive. Are you mixing your own or buying the pre-mixed stuff?

all my juice comes from Tasty Vapor now. I vape all day (even in my office at work) pretty heavy and use about 3-4ml/day.........if you buy high mg nic and doublers at TV and mix to 12mg (my preferred level), the juice ends up costing you $0.25/ml.

In addition, I open a new cartomizer about every 4th day (approx. 1.80 each, and the old ones get cleaned and re-used as well)...add a few cents battery life and I believe you come up in the $1.25 ballpark (correct me if I'm wrong but for me they are consistently correct - YMMV)

Of course long term, devices will need replacing but I'm on 4th month with a $50 Bartleby that shows no signs of wear (knock wood)

Initially, it cost a bit to find juice that satisfies you, but once you cross that hurdle, it's extremely cost effective.

VAPE ON!! you won't regret it and neither will the bean counter ;)
