I've been refilling the same 3 cartos for about 3 weeks now and finally retired one of them. I thought I had a few new ones around but unfortunately discovered they were empty cartos for the the Joye 510, which I do not have. They were sent as a freebie along with some juice I ordered. One of my other cartos was drawing really hard, so I pushed a wire thru the center to make sure it was open. Now that one doesn't work at all. Another one went thru the washing machine and also doesn't work. I've boiled them in water before and had no problem, so why did the washing machine kill it? This leaves me with one prefilled carto that needs to last me until I get some new ones.

My main question is, why do the cartos get so much harder to draw after they've been refilled, even just a couple times? I hadn't used a new prefilled for a few weeks now, and forgot what I was missing. It's a world of difference. It is so easy to draw and much more satisfying. I can see now why a prefilled carto will last me much longer than one I've refilled. When they're harder to draw and less satisfying, I suck on it much more. Also, is there a way to revive a carto that has ceased working? I'm a bit nervous having to rely on just 1 carto for 4 days.

The agitation or spin of the washer might have broke the coil.

I never boil attys as that can and will in some cases, kill them.. No need to boil them.
Hot water will do just fine. if you need to clean them. If this doesn't work, toss them out and get new ones.

Some cartos are just better than others.

It is a good idea to always have plenty of attys in stock just for cases as this..

good luck.

I was going to ask something like this. Isn't the point of the cartomizer to get a fresh atomizer with each cart? So, if we refill the same cart, won't the atomizer not be fresh and burn out, possibly before the juice is done? Maybe the atomizers in a cart last for multiple refills, I have no clue.

Also, what do you do with dead carts, recycle them or just trash them?

Call me cheap, prudent or environmentally friendly, but I try to get more than one use out af a carto. Even at only a couple bucks a piece, it makes sense to refill them. I do find that after a few refills they start to hold less juice, don't taste as good and have a little harder draw. Rinsing them out helps, but of course adds another task to a solution that is meant to be disposable.

It's good to get confirmation on the quality of cartos as this is something that I've noticed since I started using them several weeks ago. I should mention that, while I have every intention of (eventually) trying the highly touted (and evidently higher-quality) 510 cartos, that I've been using only the cheapies (probably Kanger) which are KR808/901 threads.

That said, some are excellent and last for such a sufficient number of refills that I lose track just how many. Others are poor performers from the get-go. Most fall somewhere in the middle but since other vapers have had similar experiences, I think I'll keep track of the good ones & see if they remain superior performers after cleaning. As it stands now, I've got several (many) in a 'to be cleaned' baggie and 30 or 40 new ones. Motivation to clean is therefore low at this point. :D

Thanks to all for your input and comments on this issue.

I have noticed that some don't pass muster, and are harder to draw even from the same pack. Then again, the low quality of most chinese goods is staggering, so no surprise there.

Good thing they are cheap -- $7.95 for 5 or so. With my vaping, one pack would last 10 days, maybe 12. If I decide to refill each one a few times with a $15 30ml bottle of juice, those carts will last at least one month. So, like $22 plus $6 shipping for a month of vaping for me. Actually a little less because I'd have some juice left over.

I'd be happy if every one worked perfectly and lasted longer, but with the price being so low, I'm still thrilled with cartomiser performance, and incredible convenience.
