Right now I am vapeing from an E9 from e-cig.com and itccame with cartomizers. After a very short period of time I start tasting a "synthetic" flavour. Imagine burnt insulation, and I do mean the Owens-Corning type of insulation. I've been refilling the carts often enough to keep the filler material moist. As I am going to purchase a proper three piece system this weekend, will I have to worry about off tastes as much with the separate atty/cartridge system?

Simple answer, YES.

The FACT is, that MANY prefer cartomizers to 3 piece systems. I have MANY models now, but still us KR808D-1 cartomizers on ALL of them, with adapters.

I feel that attys are too fidgety, and take to much time to fill every 20 mins, and the leaking everywhere is the WORST!

The cartomizers you use for that are EXPENSIVE,and hard to find, I can only think of 2-3 vendors that have the KR808D-2 cartomizers that work with that unit.

Ya know, I use a Kr808 (a 2-piece system), and I get a good 3 or 4 hours of vaping time out of them. And that is *without* any weird taste. I can push it to 5 or 6, but then I'll start getting the taste you're talking about, and there's no getting rid of it.

It may just be low-quality cartos. I'm not gunna say I've never burned a carto, because I have. But it was always user error, and once a defective carto. But I would have caught that if I'd just popped off the mouthpiece and looked. Now I always do my first fill on a blank with the top off, rather than dripping through the batt hole like I usually do.

If you like the idea of a 2-piece design, don't let a bad product make you think they all suck.

When any cartomizer, or for that matter atomizer/cartridge, begins to taste like you are describing, it is simply getting too dry. Then, it's time for a new cartomizer or cartridge. Sometimes, it is just a wicking problem - the cartomizer or the cartridge is unable to deliver enough eliquid to the coil for the rate at which you are vaping. But more commonly, it is just too dry. Time to refill, or to pop on another cartomizer or cartridge.

Once you begin to get a little of that taste, or the vapor production decreases, stop. Continuing at that point increases the likelihood of actually burning the filler. If that happens, you will not be able to get rid of that taste even after refilling, especially with a cartomizer.

I am looking for LR 510 cartos that do not burn easily on my ProVape-1 (V2: 3.7v) AND will refill nicely (re-absorb again). My normal (not LR) 510 Cartos from another vendor refills a lot better.

The current LRs I'm using are good the first time thru, but refilling seems to run right through it. It's as if the carto is not releasing much of the juice, so the filler remains saturated during refill (or not absorbent enough for some reason).

I also try cleaning it with a quick warm rinse and 30 min soak, then hard blow out (or overnight dry). After which, the carto seems constantly "clogged" and the draws are tight as hell.

Can anyone recommend a good LR 510 Carto and where to get it? (I'm in the US)

Thanks,
Ken
