Cartomizer Trouble

I'm a newbie when it comes to e-cigarettes. Not too long ago, I ordered the Volcano e-cig. I liked the size and I liked the idea of just using pre-filled cartomizers...not a techie by any means, just wanted something which was convenient.

The problem I'm having is with Volcano's cartomizers. The starter kit came with a 5ct. package plus I ordered two additional packages. When I received the kit, one of the cartomizer packages was damp, as if something had spilled on it. Fair enough, these things happen. I didn't want to use that particular package so I started on the remaining two packages..

Out of one package, only 4 out of 5 worked. When I tried to use the (non-working) one, it was impossible to draw on, made a gurgling noise (for lack of a better word) and I got a bunch of pretty nasty tasting e-liquid in my mouth. Out of the other package, only 2 worked. With two of the carts, I got the same result as above. The last cartomizer was, as far as I could tell, completely empty of e-liquid. So out of a total of 15 cartomizers, 9 were unusable and/or defective.

I e-mailed Volcano, and to their credit, they were very responsive and fully credited (in the form of points) my account. Recently, I ordered from them again. I received the cartomizers today. Opened one package and the first two were defective (can't draw on them, mouth full of e-liquid etc.).

At this point, I'm pretty frustrated. I just don't see this kind of failure rate as being acceptable and I don't want to use Volcano carts anymore.

So I'm wondering if people with more e-cig knowledge than I have, can help me out.

1. Is there anyway I can fix the cartomizers?
2. Is there another place that sells cartomizers compatible with the volcano battery?
3. Can anyone recommend a simple kit that will work better than the volcano? Ideally, I'm looking for something fairly small and while I wouldn't mind filling up empty cartomizers, I'd love to stay away from a 3 piece set.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like maybe they're overfilling their cartos. You can probably salvage those pretty easily, though.

I'm assuming they sell them with the standard rubber cap on top. If you pull that off, and blow a couple times, a couple drops of juice will probably shoot out the connector end (you'll want a paper towel or something back there to catch it). That's what flooding the carto and causing the gurgling. A couple of blows and the carto will be cleared and you'll be able to draw from them without getting a mouth full of juice.

That won't help with empty ones, of course, but it may make the others usable.

Cartos either work or don't work, they are pretty straight forward. If you have Ego batteries and not the "Volcano" smaller ecig, I would suggest you try Crystal Clear Vaping for cartos. Check the bundle for "Ressurrector" 1.7 ohm XL's. You will need juice to fill them and they work really well and are pretty consistent, With the bundle you even get a free drip tip which is a lot more comfortable on the carto.

I'm with you on Volcano. They have great customer service but thats about where it ends. If they were the only company out there I would still be smoking, thats how frustrated I got with their carts. As far as functionality and good flavors go, try v2 or go with any sort of eGo set-up and liquids. They can be a bit time consuming at first because there are a few things to get used to maintaining but the end result is so very worth it. And guys, volcano, unless they have changed it, uses a seperate atty/cart design where the atty punctures the juice cart when inserted. If they are still of this design, I don't know if you can salvage as suggested.
