Assuming you are careful and don't burn your cartomizer, how do you know when it's time to replace it? Will it stop soaking up juice or is there another way to tell?
Cartomizers used alone (not in a cartotank) will last 1 - 3 weeks on average. Factors such as the thickness of the juice and how dark it is can cause it to last less long.
Toward the end of a cartomizers life, you will notice a decrease in flavor and vapor production, and also a stiffer/harder pull when you suck on your drip tip. It's then time to start a new cartomizer.
Using a "punched" cartomizer (one or two holes) in a cartotank can prolong a cartomizer's life expectancy and allows much longer time between needing to refill with juice. The tank can be refilled multiple times with the same cartomizer.
If it lasts long enough that the atomizer doesn't putter out and stop working, I notice that the filler doesn't seem to be absorbing as well as it used to. Then it becomes harder to draw. Once it's obviously not working as well as before I change it.
It's more a question of how long you're willing to use it as it wears out. Only if the atomizer dies or you start to taste burning is it a clear-cut time-to-change.
