Or in my case I'm looking for a cartomizers for dummies explanation. :2cool:

I have a kr808d-1 e cig and I'm a complete noob, and I've just been buying empty cartos to fill...they seem to work ok, but I'm buying without really understanding what I'm buying. What's the difference between the bottom coil (forgive me if I describe these things wrong) a horizontal, double, etc etc. What are the other differences for this type of model... What makes a 'good'cart or a 'bad' cart ?

I also hope I've got the right sub forum lol...

Thanks in advance for your help!

bottom coil is a horizontal coil and its a newer style than the vertical coils. some find that they produce greater vapor.

double coils will give you more vapor but require more power than you might have in your kr808.

then theres resistance: standard and low resistance cartos. the lower the resistance (ohm), the more vapor youll get. but just as in the dual coils, they require more power (mah).

So with my standard batteries I should stick with the standard bottom/horizontal coil carts I assume. If I try different carts I would need a more powerful batt...which leads to my next question....are all 808batteries pretty much interchangeable, does the name refer to just the threading/connection? Is there 808batts that are more powerful than others? And if so, then I am guessing if I buy one I wouldn't be able to use my current charger with it? Sigh it's all so confusing lol.

I appreciate your help Kemosabe :)

Okay, time for me to share what I've learned. I only use automatic batters, so If you're using a manual I don't know how much help this will be. The Generation 1 808s are not regulated. The new Generation 2s are. the Gen 1s have a hole in the center post to allow airflow which activates the switch inside the batt. The Gen 2s have no hole in the center post ( the hole(s) are located underneath on the sides I believe. This means it is less likely that juice will leak into the battery and short it out.

Now, here's the biggie: You can charge Gen 2 batts on a Gen 1 charger. You CANNOT charge Gen 1 batts on a Gen 2 charger.

Both my automatic batteries have a hole In the centre post....so that makes them gen 1? And since the beginner kit had a charger with it I assume it's a gen one charger, so no matter the batt I order, it can go in this charger (assuming of course it's an 808)?

And just for interest, what would happen if u put a Gen1 on a gen2 charger?

It won't charge on a Gen2 charger because the connection is different I believe. I have the original 510 batts and I believe they are interchangeable with 808 chargers? I'm not positive, maybe someone can help. But, if they are, and your dead-set on sticking to slim style batts, then I recommend 510 batts. There are different ohm 510 batts, I think? The "pen style" 510 batts are longer and have better battery life. I'm not sure where to get them, they have really fallen out of style since big batt mods or Ego mods are increasingly becoming the standard. Let me do a little digging for you. Edit- Yes, there are Joye 510 mega batteries that have better battery life. I agree COMPLETELY with you though, e-cigarettes are VERY confusing buddy. There has to be over 50 different types of American made big battery mods, and there are at least a dozen of the cigarette-clone models that I know of. 901, 510, 510 mega, 808, blah blah blah blah BLAH! Then you have all the websites and businesses that buy 510s in bulk, just using the 510 for an example, and they sell it as they're own proprietary name. Its infuriating! I just wish there was ONE place that had info on it all. Right now there isn't. I love doing research, so I am seriously contemplating creating a website that does exactly that, and brings info about all known e-cigarette models to ONE place.

It is overwhelming, understand your confusion. So instead of typing it all over again, you might read my answer here in other thread about 808 bigger batteries choice: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...elp-deciding-fat-big-battery.html#post5326872 - you might find more information about batteries there.

About the charger, AFAIK - the gen1 charger is the most versatile charger (confusing, right?), it could be used with any 808 batteries but please, somebody correct me if I'm wrong with this.

Wow thanks everyone! I am pretty much dead set on cig clone type pv's for now, maybe a bigger one for at home some day but for now I'm happy with what I have lol. So I originally bought a 808 style starter kit, which I now know is gen 1 which means I have a gen 1 charger......so can I interchange volts, bloogs etc. With this system, as long as they are 808 batteries? I will probably consider a 510 device eventually but dang I want to understand what I have now before I confuse myself further lol.

This discussion went from cartos to batts pretty quickly lol, but I really want to understand this stuff.

Clove hunter, thanks for the link, I will continue to do more reading

Plumes.....if u do get all the info together....I want the link!!! Lol

Firefox, you helped me figure out which batts I have....very grateful!

If you sure it is a gen1 charger then you are fine to use it with volt, bloog, smoov & halo (those are the gen2 I know of) or of course any gen1 batteries (v2 & v4l diamond/stealth - I'm not sure v4l titan is gen1 or gen2).

I know you can use 510 device/carto with 808 device/carto using adapter but I am not so sure about the 510/808 charger interchangeability - I think it won't work.

Hmm, I don't know, I think the Gen1 charger would work with 510 batts. I wouldn't buy a 510 battery not knowing for sure though. Deblym, if you stay here on the ecf I have to warn you, you'll proabably want to switch to a PV that is less like a cigarette sooner than you may think. You'll be talking to people and making friends with bigger and nicer PVs and eventually you'll get bit by the bug and you'll want to know what everyone is talking about when they say alien things like "5v dual coil bobas bounty was a little harsh, 3.7 was flavorless, but 4.5 was the best tobacco i've tried yet!!" But for now, I don't want to discourage you from enjoying your 808 cigarette style because cigarette clones are classic, classy, stealth, and very enjoyable in their own way. i found KR-808 Maybe that will help you figure out what is interchangeable and what to buy.

It says your 808 is 98mm, an 808A is 89mm, and an 808B is 84mm. So if you can figure out which you have, you will better know if you have the biggest 808 battery, or if there are bigger ones out there. HERE is a picture for you comparing them:

It looks like "VapeAtron" has beat me to the punch, with the section of they're forum marked "e-cigarette-models" I'm not sure how updated this list is, or the information within it, but it seems to have most if not all of the current e-cigs and mods on the market today. I will take a better look at the list when I get the time. Here is a link, for now: E-Cigarette Models

All of them have a hole in the center post, so no it doesn't tell you if you have a gen1 or gen2. What was the vendor? we can tell you pretty easily based on that.

A gen1 bat on a gen2 charger will fry your battery and turn it into an attractive looking piece of junk :) Gen2's chargers will over charge a gen1 battery-- so if you take it off as soon as the light changes colors it will be mostly okay, but if you leave it there it will keep charging the thing until it shorts out.

As far as I know, all 510 batteries have different threads than 808's----but you can buy a cheap adapter.

A carto is mostly good or bad based on your own preferences. I don't know a ton about coils, but I do know a bit about resistances. Lower resistances have more vapor but can burn easier. Higher resistances don't burn so easy, but the vapor production isn't quite as good and the vapor production gets worse and worse with refills. But higher resistance is better for higher powered batteries.

Powerwise, most are the same-ish, but there are some power differences. Tell us what you have and I'll say more. CloveHunter is right, if you have a gen1 charger it'll be fine on any 808. The really big power difference is on a passthrough (much higher voltage) but those don't need a charger.

I have one battery from smoke nv.... 80mm and one from cdnvapor, same length. I had started withbthe smoke nv starter kit so have the wall and USB charger with it. The charger has charged both those batts and they both still work lol.

I know I may want a different model some day.... Probably for at home use. But I'm pretty certain I will always want to use this type of e-cig in public. I'm kinda an introvert, and don't like drawing attention to myself. Anyway, I appreciate the gentle suggestion, but the 808 is 'all dat' for me right now ;) lol

So what kind of batteries do I have ?

I should mention these were both bought from Canadian suppliers, being that I'm a canuck and all eh
