As a relatively new vaper, I'm still on a quest for the perfect vape for all situations. I've also developed a weakness for Alien Vision's Boba's Bounty and Gorilla juice, both thick VG juices.

I quickly realized that Boba's Bounty will quickly gum up just about anything you put it into, rendering it nearly useless in less than a day. Protanks, T2's, and the several other clearomisers I've tried. My method for this juice at home is now dripping it.

I recently received a Smok DCT and have run thinner juices in it, and am thrilled with how consistantly the cartomizer performs. It's been my choice for on the go, seeing as a dripper isn't my idea of practical ,especially while driving.

So today I received yet another 30ml of BB and couldn't help myself. I cleaned the tank and loaded a fresh 1.5 ohm, dual punched carto. It's vaping awesome, and I'm thrilled......

My fear is, that it won't last long and at some point during the day tomorrow, it's going to get plugged up and useless before I make it back home from work. Do cartomizers handle thicker liquids better than clearomizers? If so, I'm sold on vaping cartomizers.

Would love to hear some success stories or suggestions.

the consensus is that the thicker, darker, sweeter juices will gum up faster than thinner, or lighter juices. Bobas sadly is thick dark and sweet, so i imagine that it will clog faster than say ry4. you may find that due to the lighter filler pack on the smok cartos that you will get a bit more mileage out of them than say a boge or ikenvape as they have a denser pack. personally i run my Bobas(same weakness) in my KFL and clean the coils about every other day with a quick rinse under the sink and good dry burn. was running it in a aga t2, but got inconsistent wicking on mesh with such a thick juice.

hope that helps, one of the carto gurus should be around to give better info shortly. :vapor:

The best delivery device for thicker, darker, sweeter juices is a cotton-wicked micro coil in a rebuildable dripping atomizer (RDA). Organic cotton balls cost next to nothing and you can remove the old wick, dry-burn the coil, and rewick it in about 60 seconds. If you can't drip with two hands (i.e. when driving), think about an RDA on a bottom feeder like a REO Grand--a one-handed, all day dripping machine.

This is exactly what I've done. Dripping seems to be the only way to go, and even so, I have to re-wick the coil daily with fresh cotton to keep the flavor consistant.

I had this longshot of a hope, that a low ohm cartomizer might help me out to take Boba's Bounty out of the house. I am on day two with this cartomizer. And while it is still technically vaping, I've already noticed quite a decrease in flavor and vapor.

Curse you, Boba's! ;)

Next mission is to find an equally satisfying tobacco flavor that isn't so darn thick. Halo's Tribecca was not the answer. What is that in there? Corn? Next on the list is Ahlusion's Smooth Criminal.

I prefer super fruity sweeter higher vg juice that is supposed to be towards the harsher end of the spectrum on cartos and I've come to prefer the single bigger hole cartos. (xl's) I'm trying different things out but I think I'm getting around 7 ml of juice per carto. I am burning thru a bottle a day 15ml, and I've been switching cartos out after half a bottle (15ml)

I was worried one of my favorite juices would be hard on the carto. Its a 70PG/30VG Banana Nut Bread which is fairly sweet but its lightly colored. I know the 40PG/60VG blueberry waffle i get is harder on them. Its pretty sweet though and it has lots of coloring. The first batch was nearly clear and i was disappointed it is now purplish.

Im sure ive been through over 10ml of the BNB 70PG/30VG and its still rocking great. Draw is basically the same as new. Im only running a 1.7ohm at around 7watts. Im not sure if that is going to help or hurt the life of the carto but i like the way this juice tastes at that setting.

Another semi sweet mango with the same blend ratio and carto actually tastes better at 6.5watts and the strawberry is better at 7watts. I see people running much higher watts or volts a lot but this works for me. I get just enough throat hit, pretty good cloud and really nice flavor.

Anyone think this is too low to for the IKV 1.7ohm Fusion carto or at least too low for best life of the carto?

VG does not clog a coil. Either does PG for that matter. It's the flavors that do that. I have used a cart for over 4 months vaping unflavored liquid at 60/40 PG/VG 18mg nicotine. The problem you run into with high VG is it has a hard time keeping the coil soaked simply because it is too thick to reach the coil fast enough. Often times vendor liquids have a high flavor percent. The higher the flavor percent the faster it will clog your coil. I DIY and keep my flavors around 10 to 15 percent. My average life span for a cart is 4.5 days compared to vendor liquids which only gave me 3 days before clogging.

How many ml's do you vape a day?
