Cartos are cheaper, more forgiving. They hold a lot more juice. I use them exclusively. If you have enough power, I recommend these:

Crystal Clear Vaping

I get them in 1.5 ohm. I run them on a provari around 4 volts or so. You really need a battery above 600mah to drive a LR dual coil anything.

Atty's do deliver a more pure flavor, but they don't hold much juice. They are easier to fry. They cost more.

Standard atomizers are comprised of a coil and some sort of mesh. The old method was to use a cartridge to feed juice into the atty. Now they're generally used for dripping to get better flavor.

Cartomizers are a combination of a cartridge and atomizer, where filler material surrounds the coil and you saturate that filler material with juice. They occasionally need to be topped off with juice after a while. They're also used in tanks by slotting or punching a hole in them and the tank continuously feeds juice into the carto, taking away the need to top off.

carto tanks go around the carto and feed juice to the carto via a hole in the side of the carto usually put there buy you using a carto punch, dremel tool, or saddle valve. You can also buy cartos made for tanks with the holes in it. The easiest tank system is the vivinovas. Thet are essentially a atty with wick that go into the juice tank and soak the juice up to the coil. The atomizer heads are replaceable or rebuildable. I used cartos for a long time, first by themselves, then in tanks and now all I use for my allday setup is vivinovas. Its just easier.
