I'm not sure where it is you live, but in the US you can go to just about any vet office, or animal supply store and buy needles and syringes really cheap. It dosen't matter too much what gauge needle you use, but I do use an 18 gauge needle, and a 3 cc syringe.
To fill using a needle and syringe (for first fill only)
1) you get some juice in your syringe, and have your needle attached.
2) using the needle, go around the outside edge of the carto adding just alittle bit of juice as you go along. I normally add juice in about 3-4 different places.
By outside edge of carto, I mean between the inside edge of the metal carto and the white filler stuff. Put your syringe down as far as it will go. This way you are filling from the bottom up.
3) when you see the top of the carto looking slushy, you're done.
Not everyone likes this method. We all have to find out which we works best for us and which way we prefer. It's all in personal taste. Try different ways and find the way that works best for YOU.
