Hey friendly folks of the carto subforum! I am a fresh-faced vaper newbie (vapbie? newper?), and I am woefully uninformed about the wonderful world of cartos, so I come requesting some help.

I understand that my brand new eGo-C is a 510 battery (thread?), so I should use a 510 cartomizer. Does anyone have any suggestion for a good carto for this unit? Is there a difference between the eGo-C cartos and just general eGo cartos? Does the changeable part matter at all when choosing other parts?

Additionally, I'd like to learn about the lifespan of a carto. They aren't that cheap, but some can hold quite a bit. Is it possible to reuse them for some period of time via refilling? Is there a time I should consider cleaning it, or should I just use the same juice every time until it burns out? What are the symptoms of a totaled carto?

I just did the same and I think your best options are the bore lr cartomizers, kanger horizontal 510 cartomizers or a vision stardust clearomizer. I am a newb and just bought all of the above with the exception of the kangers because there are some instances where they can taste sorta plasticky at first but others don't find this at all.

I can't tell you yet because I have not even tried vaping yet. I just started a newb thread and after some discussion I ended up with the ego c and said cartomizers. My shipment is leaving today and will be here in 2 days but I have high hopes on the stardust and it is said to be leak proof. Clearomizer holds about 1.5 - 2x the amount of juice over the cartomizers too. I'll let you know my thoughts when I get it.

geo, do you have any posts or tutorials you can link me about the clearomizer? I would love to know more about their lifespan, cleaning techniques, costs, etc.
Hey the link below is a quick review

Review of the Vision Ego Clearomiser (Stardust)

As for lifespan I've heard they can last for weeks and at ~£5 each they are a great buy :) For cleaning from what I have read you basically rinse them out with warm water, give them a blow, leave to dry and maybe a dry burn and they are good to go again.
I will know more in a few weeks, but so far I cannot fault them and I have used the old style cartridges, cartomisrers and the ce2 and ce3 clearomisers :)

I have no idea where I'm at
Ksamim,

Congrats, you picked up one of the best systems there are. The ego system is probably the most versatile there is. Anything that fits a 510 will fit your batt. I am assuming you bought the whole ego-c tank system, not just the batt. If you just got the batt, try the ego-c tank first. If you just want to try something other than the tank you have huge choices. Everybody likes something different. I personally don't like filler in my carts, tank mods can be too big, but there are lots of choices for the ego system. You can even try the original ego-t atty and tank.

The ce-4's look promising, but I am still in the procurement phase. You might want to try the ce-2 Rev. 5 XL, they are what I use most now when I am not using the ego-t tank. The ce-2 holds about 1.8ml which is nice enough not to have to change out and refill too often, and not too big to either be cumbersome or tire of the same liquid. I reuse mine for about two weeks (I rotate about 5 at a time) before cleaning. Many have lasted me for 6+ months before I decide to replace them. There are some light mods you may have to do like snipping and/or pulling up the inner plug, but I have not had any leaking problems or the like. You can get these in clearo or metal. I like metal because they last forever and anything with clear plastic will eventually leak or crack (not the metal ones).

You can try dripping, regular carts, and you can put adapters on them for just about anything. The ego batt itself is one of the best ones out there without haveing to pay $100+.

Different carts have different lifespans, depending on many factors including juice. I mix my own and use close to 95%+VG and have not had problems with the ego tanks or the ce-2s or ce-3s.

Just buy a small number of several different carts/cartos/etc and find out which you like best. There is no "best" in general as everyone wants/needs/expects something different. The "best combo is what works best for you.

good luck and have fun vaping

I have no idea where I'm at
ksamim,

Tried the Ce-4 (aka stardust), and it is pretty good. I liked the idea of being able to change the coil and wick when the coil goes out, but we will have to see how long the plastic holds up. For me it has been so-so, since I am using a 93%VG juice, is takes hard hits for it not to burn, but I am going to add some DW and thin it out a bit and see if it is the liquid or the carts.

The advantages of the ego-c are that when the coil/wick are shot, you can just change that piece, not the whole atty. That is my next try out, an ego-c atty ("A" model) since I have lots of "A" tanks. I find that once you get used to it, changing the wick is pretty quick, but with the new ego-c, it wil be even easier.

You asked about lifespan. Using LR attys will shorten batt life, as acidic liquids shorten cart life. I run through about 4-5ml a day and with rotation I clean about all of them together every two weeks by leaving them soak in a vodka bath for a few hours. Take the rubber stoppers out, throw them into a vodka bath, and let sit. Later, take them out, dump out any excess vodka, and wrap in paper towel. Sling them in a downward motion to finish getting out any residual liquid. Put one on a batt, and burn until coil glows red. I usually blow on the coil while I am doing this to speed up the process and keep the coil cooler. It is very rare for a coil to blow like this, I have only lost 3 (out of dozens) doing this. I have a passthrough that will stay on as long as I hold the button, so it is a bit faster for me.

Before putting it back together, cut a V where the opening on the side is to enlarge the opening for the wick so that the rubber doesn't restrict flow. Put a pen mark just above the opening, and line that up with the cup opening where the wick comes through. This way you are sure the openings match and flow is good. Don't push it all the way to the bottom, or put it to the bottom and pull up on it a bit to have a little bit looser fit, again to not restrict flow. Fill. Blow through bottom to get rid of excess liquid in the tube, clean inside opening and put in the seal ring. Some guys don't put the seal ring back in, but that helps with leaking. Add favorite mouthpiece. Put back on batt and enjoy a clean hit.

Hope this helps
