That alcohol should evap off very quickly. I let mine sit for ten minutes or so and have never tasted the nasty rubbing alcohol taste. I also wipe mine with a paper towel afterwards though.

The other thing to try, right after soaking it for a bit is pressing a sewing pin in the holes and jiggling around a little bit to free up any gunk in there. I do that once a week or so with my autos and it makes a ginormous (technical term) difference.

Well I've probably done the inch of alcohol in a shotglass method about 20 times now between various auto batteries... Every single one of them came out just fine. I'm not sure where the vacuum switch is (Addy might know) but it seems like it's not getting ruined by what I'm doing. If you don't feel comfortable using that much, then don't.

About a third of an inch past the threads.

I use a dappen-dish (like one would use for acrylic or silk nail application. Small little glass... glass. Although a shot-glass is a good choice too) and just put about a quarter-inch of alcohol in it. Even less. In theory you're safe to the TOP of the V4L logo on single logo autos that I've seen (a pretty fair number of everything except shorties which I've never seen in the wild...). In practice, you only need to cover to the top of the air tube in the battery which is at the bottom of the threads. So no more than to the top of the V4l, no less than the band at the bottom of the threads. Using a little less than the top of the V4L logo means you can agitate the battery a bit (swirl it around, pump it up and down, ...) which will help break up the gunk.

Liquid alcohol is pretty conductive. About 10kOhm [91%] from reading it just now... So best to keep it away from the switch, although it's just going to short the battery while it's submerged - when it evaps there's nothing there to worry about. Short mistakes aren't the end of the world on our little batteries. It's nowhere NEAR as conductive as a cartomizer. Thousands of times less, in fact. Alcohol is pretty flammable, so if you have a hot mod battery you shouldn't even look at it cross-eyed unless you follow the manufacturers directions or know what you're doing. And remember that it's the vapor that is most flammable, not the liquid.

Well the first part of that post made sense, and so did some of the second part...until you started talking mods and flammable...I'm not into modding. In fact, if I get so far as to mod something, someone take my toys away, its time to quit! LOL.

I soaked the battery for a few minutes last night, there was a small improvement. I think I'll soak it for a bit longer tonight and agitate as you suggest. Grr but I hate giving up vaping for any amount of time...

Hey guys, hate to beet a dead dog ...but Darrigaaz, you say you just rinse them out; is it that simple... do you just run some hot water through them, blow them out and let them dry??
I am basically lazy and hate to think I need to go through the whole boil, blow, dry, fluff, drip, etc ,etc thing to keep reusing these cartos, but I would like to save the $green$ by continuing to refill.
I currently use the condom refill with the T-spin...but have never washed them!
can you clarify your method...PLEASE !!!

yup yup. it doesn't clean them as thoroughly as boiling, but it works.

Even more simple... I don't even let them dry.. I run hot tap water through a cart for about a minute while holding it with tweezers, blow through it for about 10 seconds to remove excess water, and then just drip fill from there. That's probably as lazy as you could get, lol.

I only do that every other refill as well.

An inch of alcohol would cover much more than the threads...

I've had water spilled on mannnnnyy electronic devices in the past... My friend actually just spilled a sticky sugary drink IN my computer, it got all over the motherboard, graphics card, etc.

I gently cleaned it off with a damp paper towel, let it sit for 3 days, and haven't had a problem since. As long as there is no moisture when the device actually turns on, I'm sure it's ok.

I also spilled a cup of water on a DVD player while on, it turned the colors into a rainbow. I turned it off, let it dry for a few days and worked like a champ.

So I wouldn't really be worried about the alcohol method.

Thanks Darr, I will give that a shot... I went with the VK (kr8) because of its simplicity but I can justify buying more goodies from V4L if I can "easily" refill the cartos and make them more cost effective!

Thank you also Belle

Sorry all; this was a bit off topic
