I concur. A carto doesn't really shine unless it is fed by a cartotank.
A carto is a stainless steel tube completely filled with a wick - polyfill, a cotton-like substance with absorbant properties. Inside this wick is the heating coil, so the coil is continuously fed with juice for better flavor production and more consistancy than a clearomizer. The main drawback of a carto is it can be difficult to know when to "top off" the carto with more juice before the wick becomes dry and the coil ends up burning the wick. Once the wick is burnt, you'll never get that taste out of the carto.

The solution is to put the carto into a cartotank. Holes are put into the steel tube to allow the juice in the tank to refill the cartomizer with each puff from the cart. It's now easy to know when to add juice to the tank, as the tanks are almost always clear.
Clearomizers depend upon tiny silica strings to wick the juice to a coil. These tiny wicks can have a difficult time keeping up with a moderate to heavy vaper, resulting in dry or burnt hits. This in turn can cause the vaper to draw harder on the clearo, resulting in flooding or gurgling. All this results in inconsistancy and a muting of flavor.
