Can someone explain the rational behind cartos going "BAD", other than the obvious, of running one dry and burning it up ?

I've been using the same cartos in my setup for weeks now.
Whenever they start to get a little "off" taste to them I take em out and soak overnight in alcohol, then boil for about 5 minutes in distilled water, then run them thru about 10 minutes in my Bogue ultrasonic cleaner.
Let em dry overnight and slap em back in a tank and everything tastes just the same as the first day I took em out of the box.

I read on here of people ordering them in large quanities and replacing them every few days.
What am I missing here :)

I do tons of Bobas Bounty (100% VG) 3 days max on a carto and I start getting a harsh TH along with kind of a wet dishraggy flavor on exhale. I make sure the carto is always as saturated as it can be without flooding, I keep a bottle with me. I would love to use a carto for weeks, but it just doesn't work out for me that way... I do have a carto with Ectoplasma right now that I have been using for a week and it still tastes the same as the first pull. I'm sure the juice you are using has a lot to do with carto usefulness.

I am interested in this ultrasonic cleaner though...

It would pay to take a look at this picture in the post of a burned cartomizer filler. The few I've pulled apart after bad taste have shown the same damage. They are designed for one time use. We refill them until they taste funny and this is what causes it. I'm just not into vaping burned polyfill along with my juice, so I toss them after a few days at the first sign of strange taste.

The polyfill wrapping can be bought at walmart dirt cheap for a sackfull....be sure to check the label to insure that's what you're actually getting !!
IF and I state, only IF the wrapping ever burnt to this point, just re-wrap the coil/s with new fill.
The coils are nothing but a simple electronic circuit that in theory should last forever.
Soaking, boiling and ultrasonic cleaning definitely removes any residue that could build up on your coils.
I've watched it "disappear" after a thorough cleaning :)

I'm just saying - why not save a buck or two where you can

The main thing I notice is that the draw starts to get tight after a while - depends on the juice but usually after I've run about 15-20 ml through a carto. Quick fix is to use a straightened paper clip through the hole to re-open the pathway and I'm back in business for a little while longer. Ultimately, I look at these cartos as a disposable unit and buy them by the truckload so I always have plenty of spares.
