Hello everyone,
So with the help of this forum I decided on an epower 14650 as my first pv, and ordered anrew's excellent starter kit from ccv (CrystalClearVaping.com). I got it,loaded a carto, charged a battery about halfway, fired it up, and the indicator light starts flashing. I check the instructions, and that means the battery's dead. I charge the battery again, until the charger says it's full- same proble. I try the other battery- same problem. I try charging overnight-same problem. Finally, today I tried direct dripping, just because I was thinking to myself, what haven't i tried. It worked perfectly. So I'm sitting here with a wonderfun nicotine buzz, trying to figure out why 2 different cartos are giving me a dead battery message from my e-power. And of course, I can't get ahold of anderw at ccv.

I can't really direct drip out and about (at work during breaks for example)- and I don't know if my family will be down with me vaping in our apartment. So, does anyone have any ideas what's going on here?

Thanks in advance,
Martin

I recommend purchasing the E-Power 14650 from Hoosier as it is equipped with the blue LED switch module. There are known problems with units equipped with the white LED switch module.

Many, but not all E-Power 14650s equipped with the white LED switch module may suffer from these symptoms:

-Rapid flash from white LED and won't fire carto.
-Won't fire unless the E-Power is warm (over 68 degrees)
-Fires 2.0 ohm LR but not 1.7 ohm LR carto
-Won't fire either 2.0 ohm or 1.7 ohm LR carto
-Requires a very freshly charged battery to work. My white LED switches would not fire with less than 3.6 volts left on the battery. The blue LED switch keeps on going under 3.3V.
-Gets picky about which protected battery you use
-Works OK for a while after rebooting (unscrewing the battery tube complely and screwing it back on)

This drama began to unfold last month.

I have two E-Power 14650s now with the blue LED switch and they work flawlessly.

He said in his post he tried to contact Andrew.

To the OP- is there a vendor or a brick and mortar store near you where you might be able to pick up some cartomizers?
Liberty Flights ships out of Calif and they carry boge 2.0 cartomizers.

I don't own an e-power, but wondering if a higher resistance cartomizer might help.

lol- you guys are describing exactly the problems I am having. I've been direct dripping and, well, cartos don't work, the battery has to be absolutely fresh... and as I figured, it's the switch. I'll have to talk to andrew about a new one with a blue led. I'm using (unsuccessfully) 1.7 ohm single coil resurrectors that andrew at ccv includes with an e-power.

Thanks everyone- as I expected, I need a new switch. Especially as I have a specific LR dual-coil mega-carto designed for the e-power that I want to get from smoktek.com. I'll talk to andrew.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions everyone. and thanks for the tip on hoosier, yzer. The awsome thing about the e-power is that it's modular. So I can just buy a new switch and i'm good to go.

Man, I ordered this thing on december 15th. So of course, it shows up 20 days later (another story), and then the switch is practically doa.

Oh well. C'est la vie.

I had the same problems with my new Epower that you and many others have described which I got last week from CCV. Works fine with 2.0 but it just flashes the LED when I tried to use ressurector 1.7 cartos. That is until I replaced the spring with the gold spring included in the kit. By chance did you replace your spring with the gold one that came packed in the kit?

I'm curious. How long has the E-Power 14650 with gold-plated spring worked for you? It is known that rebooting the white LED switch (which you must do to re-install a spring) will make the white LED switch work for a little while.

Before I installed the spring I would have to reset the PV by detaching the battery every three hits or so. Quite frustrating. After installing the spring I have not had to reset it after three days of reliable use except to change the battery. The only problem I am still seeing is the 1.7 cartos do not seem to be firing as hard as they do when they are attached to a basic Ego batt. The spring solved the issues with needing to reset every couple drags but I am not sure that there is not still some issue. Expected a bit more from this rig than what I am currently seeing.

I can see that you are having problems with the white LED switch on your E-Power 14650 from CCV. Contact the vendor for a solution. That's all that I can suggest.

"I just got my Epower from CCV last week and unfortunately there is an issue with the button. With a ressurector cart the thing works perhaps half the time, the other half it just blinks until I disconnect the battery. This is apparently a known issue with the new white LED five click safety buttons and using devices below 2ohm. The gold spring did help a bit but its still annoying. Hope yours works out of the box."

Has anyone been successful in getting a working replacement switch from CCV? I just found this thread, I've been fighting this issue since my epower arrived early January and didn't realize this was a known issue. I thought I was doing something wrong at first, then I thought it was the batteries, then the spring, I'd fiddle with it and think it was fixed and then it would start up again. Then I did another search and found all this info about these switches. I hope CCV and I can work this out, I'd hate to have to get a switch from somewhere else, or worse, buy a whole new unit.

It's funny & I guess I'm lucky. I only have 1 problem with my ePowers, both with the white switches. One from CCV & one from Hoosier. That problem is first thing in the morning, it doesn't fire until I warm it up in my hand about 30 seconds. It fires Ressurectors all day long after that. I am going to order a couple of blue LED switches & keep the old ones as backups.

One other thing: I have 1.5 ohm tank cartos... it won't fire these at all!

Trouble is, Hoosier is (or was) sold out of the E-Power, as are (were) most US vendors last time I checked. Presumably the switch issue has been fixed, though I expect there is some stock out there with the wonky switches still on the shelves. Couple of tricks that might help: be sure your battery is fully charged; use just a little bit of Noalox to lube threads between batt. housing & switch, then use a tiny bit more on the tip of the switch that contacts the battery; use a standard resistance carto. Then, keep trying to get in touch with CCV & find out when the new switches are expected to come in. The E-Power is a really nice PV once you get around this switch issue. Good luck & happy vaping!

I seem to be one of the only ones that has gotten the white lED switch to work. It's not that there's anything wrong with it, it's thatSmoktech, the company that makes the Epower, made a bone-headed decision and made the white LED switch rated to only use 2.0ohm and up, and that's why it won't run the 1.7ohm Ressurectors bc they are below 2.0ohm. I don't get why the heck they did that bc the older blue LED switch that didn't have the 5-click on/off was rated to use 1.5ohm and up, and worked great with the 1.7ohm Ressurectors and also the 1.5ohm Epower dual coils. So that's why everyone is having trouble with the white LED switch.
For some reason, and I'm not sure exactly why, I've been using a white LED switch with. Othing but the Ressurectors for the last month and a half and it's worked flawlessly and has never misfired or not worked. It even worked great when I did yard work all day a week ago and it was like 30 degrees out and freezing, but it still worked. I've been carrying around my old blue LED switch bc I'm afraid the white one is going to suddenly stop working, but it hasn't yet.

I told Andrew that he should go back to giving the older blue LED switch bc they work great. Yeah that switch doesn't have the 5-click on/off feature, but at least it works with the Ressurectors and other below 2.0ohm cartos. That's what Hoosier did and that's why I've been recommending for people to get the Epower from there, even though I think the CCV deal is better.

There is at least some good news finally though,
Smoktech finally fixed the switch and released it to replace the white LED switches that they completely screwed up on. Hoosier is the only vendor that I know of that has it for sale right now, but CCV will have it shortly, their just waiting for the package to arrive from China with the new switches. CCV would have already had them, but the Chinese NewYear is so long that they had to wait until it was over.
The new switch has a blue LED and is rated to use 1.5 ohm and up, like the older blue LED switches were, but it also now has the 5-click on/off feature like the white LED switch had. So for anyone that is having problems with the white lED switches, if you get one of the new ones, you'll be good to go. My buddy got one a few days ago and said its been working flawlessly with the Ressurectors and also the 1.5ohm Epower dual coils, and he was one of the people that had a white switch that didn't run either one. So if yOu want one now, order it from Hoosier and it will work with the lower resistances AND you'll have the 5-click on/off feature. There's no need to try to buy an old blue LED switch now bc the new one works just like the old ones did, plus now you can turn it off.
CCV should also have them shortly so for anyone that doesn't want to buy another, once Andrew gets them in, I would call him and tell him you bought the kit from him and the white LED switch doesn't work correctly, and I don't see why he wouldnt let you send it back and send you one of the new blue lED switches with the 5-click on/off that will work with the 1.5 and 1.7ohm cartos.
Hopefully then everyone can be a happy Epower user like I am. (yes I know I'm lucky) cause believe me, when it works like it should, it's an awesome little Pv

My E-Power just started working for some reason! I've been using it now for nearly a week without a problem which is strange because I bought it a couple of months ago and it would not turn off. I changed the switch - no joy. Then I changed the spring but it still wouldn't work. I left it on my desk and just picked it up on a whim to give it another try and suddenly it works! When I take my finger off the [blue] button, it stops...finally.

I'm pretty sure that it was the original silver spring that was causing the problem and the brass/copper (?) one that fixed it though I'll never be 100% sure. Maybe the E-Power just needed a month's rest or a time out.

If you got a crap E-Power and changing the switch did not help - I now own three switches - try substituting a different spring and see if that makes a difference.

Ok, heard back from CCV the same day I emailed them, new fixed switches are coming in next week (didn't say if they are fixed white ones or five-click blue ones). CCV will be replacing my switch for me. Those of you with a white switch working on resurrectors, I've read varying accounts but seems that before they switched to five-click blue switches that a few batches of fixed white switches did ship out, so maybe you guys got lucky and have the fixed white version (v3.5?)
