Good looking fish, but the Gallatin is just like that :) My house is a 2 minute walk from the river. A lot of people don't realize that a lot of the river scenes from 'A River Runs Through It' were filmed on the Gallatin, not over by Missoula/Lolo. It's gorgeous in the summer. We've got about 9" of snow on the ground now (but there's still a few fisherman out there). I'm just north of the canyon up to Big Sky.

Then you probably know Pinky's... where the picture was taken and where I timed my driving trips to stay for a night along the Gallatin when traveling north or south via 191. At first it really confused my company when I turned in a $15 a night "hotel" bill verses the normally quite high bills for the best hotels I usually stayed at. Rustic pink log cabins with cold running water only, but the trout fishing, oh the trout fishing. When I had the family in tow on driving business trips we stayed further south at the Wild Rose Ranch on Henry's Lake though.

EDIT to add... yes I have fished Quake - very close to the Wild Rose. Know the other too as well, drove right past them a few times but didn't fish them. The ex has almost all the pictures taken in that area though.

Wade Lake & Cliff Lake, sadly, are gaining some popularity. They're quite a ways off the beaten path (but only a few miles NW of Henry's as the crow flies), but word is spreading a bit too quickly about them. You used to see nothing but Montana & Idaho plates up there, but now as soon as it gets above 70, the place is swamped with all sorts of people. They're decent fishing, but you gotta dunk some worms up there. Very deep lakes. We got our reputation as the mecca of fly fishing for everything else for a good reason though. Trout fishing just doesn't get any better.

I know of the Wild Rose, but never actually went down that way. It's been a couple years since I was over there (actually for my 30th, when my pic was taken was the last time). Pinky's sounds so familiar, but I just can't put my finger on it. Is that south of the turn off to go up to Big Sky? I'm right off 191, but I've just been so busy that it's pretty rare that I make it past the mountain for a snowboarding day. I didn't even make it into the canyon at all last year.

Edit: If you ever need to get your fix, let me know. I'm not the greatest on the river, but I can usually reel something in. (Plus I know some spots but shh, don't tell anyone)

Good to know. I just figured out if I turn up the voltage on my Pro-V, I get much more flavor so I'll probably save these LRs for my eGo carto tank.

That's nice that you found a B&M to hang out at. Not that I hang out that much but I haven't found a B&M that I'm comfortable in. I'd feel better if they didn't ignore me.

To Susan W.........

They do have a very good taste at first. Just be carefull..... I vape them at 3.3 to 3.4 volts. If I accidentally have my Pro-V at 3.8 or 3.9, it will ruin the LR fusions pretty quickly (burn the filler)......my experience anyway.

To all......

I gotta tell you all something thats just so funny to me. I go hang out at my local B&M (Steam Cigs) .....a great buch of vapers.......great hang out. Anyway....99.9 percent of anyone that has been vaping for more than a month or so that hangs out there uses RBA's. The store will teach you at the drop of a hat how to re coil or rebuild just about anything.

Well, Im the only vaper that goes in there with my Carto's and all pre filled as many of us do. We sit arounf big round table and they look at my Cato tanks like they are a mystery. I just smile and pass mine around (happens every time I go in)....any they are usually amazed and want to know more about them.

Sometimes the old stuff is the good stuff. They are just so Damn convenient and have a great taste...... you just have to understand them.

Yes. It was right on 191 (east side) between it and the river. Could very easily be gone by now... last time I was there was 1990. I'll send you a PM to take this hijack on the side. ;)

I like the Smok single coil 3.2 ohm dual punched Carto's best......Dont want to dog Ikenvape, but have not had the success rates with those as I do with the Smok.

Perhaps it was an issue of availability, but why compare 3.0 ohm Smoktechs with LR Ikenvapes? Different resistances; not a fair comparison IMHO.

All the salespeople and many of the customers at my AltSmoke B&M use RDA's. I'm one of the few there using cartotanks, too. I sometimes get teased by the owner of still using cartotanks (he's never liked them), but they are what has worked best for me.

I bought half and half on my 100 buck order.....half LR and half SR....both single coil, dual punched. You know me.. I try a wide variety.

I actually always USED to vaped LR anything due to the the taste with my old EGO batts. Your posts actually got me to try the higher ohm stuff and the Provari.......... After I got my Provari, the higher ohm stuff started to vape better...etc...etc..... *(old storey huh?)

Now I just do the 2.5 or better cartos... usually. :toast:

You always give out sound advice. Kudo's my friend.

By the way..how do you like the new job ? Is it fun to be around vapers all the time, or do you get tired of selling ego kits and explaining that it take s a bit of effort to have a good vape all the time to the many newb's ?

(If I know you, they will be stocking IBTanks soon and you will have half the town vaping carto's....:D

I'm still unemployed.

I have indeed applied to two local B&Ms but no confirmation other than some interest. One is well established, with a currently filled salestaff. The other has only been open a couple of weeks and the store manager has been able to run the shop alone until business picks up (which could take weeks to months).

You're right, they've successfully hijacked our fishing thread. They should be ashamed, but I'm ok with letting them be ;)

I'm still using the (relatively) LR stuff ~2.0. I think the real low stuff/subohm/'blowing clouds' for show is kind of silly (but to each their own, I don't judge or care), but at the same time I'm still fighting the almost 2 pack a day habit. It's going by much easier than any other time I've quit, but I'm chainvaping like a madman because of it. Makes it a little rough in the mornings, but my lungs are starting to evict all the squatters left behind by the analogs. I might have to try a SR carto on my next order & see what the fuss is about. Baditude has lied to me so much in the past, especially about these cartotanks, but I'm still willing to give it a shot. :)

Add me as another who didn't care for IKV cartos, I just sold 3 boxes of them in the classies yesterday. I was looking forward to trying them but they just didn't do it for me. Currently I use boge laser drilled 2 hole SR and I tried the comparable SR pre drilled IKV fusion. They just didn't have the same draw and no crackling... when my Boge's crackle I'm in my happy place. :D

I haven't tried smok yet. Also, I was kind of wondering about the dual coil... any opinions? I like a cooler vape and I have my provari set at 4.0 with SR cartos.

So I'm enjoying my foray into cartotanks, but not completely sold yet.
Just throwing it out there, and open to suggestions...

Here's the thing - I am getting pretty much comparable flavor from my ProTanks. I know that's an unusual statement, but that's what I'm getting. And with those, I've got them down to a science as far as filling, cleaning, switching flavors, etc, which makes them more convenient. At least so far.

So far, for me, filling the tanks is a bit of a hassle - I need a tool, I need to move juice into something with a pointy tip - it's extra work.

I can't do fair comparisons on carts yet - I have 2 different tanks, one with a SMOK and one with an IKV. I do also have a Boge I haven't tried yet. There IS a big diff - I know what you mean JetCity - the IKV is "smoother" - and I THINK it's a tighter draw (but again - it's a totally different kind of tank, so the airflow could be part of that.

I can see more voltage clearance - they don't get burn-ey as quick as a ProTank will - so that would be a big flavor advantage if my juice tasted better at high voltage, but I'm usually not far from 4. I suppose before I decide (whether I'm getting MORE tanks), I should try higher resistance? Is there a really big difference?

I have the Smok's from IBT which are single coils. I like them. Some are crackly, some not so much. I'd call the draw medium loose (open season, Zoe).

I haven't had enough different juice experience to really know how much a difference the juices will make in different tanks, but in my experience, the most concentrated coffee flavor comes out of a Vivi Nova BDC, the glass tank. It's also got an airflow problem, so you'd have to JUST tighten, then loosen to vape... but it knocks the socks off of Protank 2, Carto, Davide, in that order.

There is a trick to BDC heads... you have to prime them a bit like cartos, and you CANNOT CANNOT dryfire or vape before it's primed or the entire head is ruined afterwards (hey, this cost me more than 5 heads to figure out:p). But it's amazing, I mean it's the closest taste to drinking it. Now I have no Ikenvapes... only boges, so not sure if that makes a difference too.
