I think the cartridge material slowly gets filled with the 'oily' part of the juice that doesn't get evaporated so easily as the rest of the juice ......and so although the cart seems to soaking wet and full of juice..it's mainly the juice that doesn't vape very easily that's why it makes such a difference to wash the material out or change it and then refil it with fresh juice.

Both are exactly right. I call it "getting gunky". I save the juice however by putting it in a large syringe, minus needle, and squeezing into a film cannister. Then I just refresh it a little with glycerin and fresh juice and reuse it. As expensive as this stuff is I don't waste a drop. You will be amazed how much comes out of a cart you think is dry. Especially in the larger carts like the penstyle.
