If you are talking about reg. carts like for the 510..as long as you want to keep them (I chew the ends and have to replace once in a while!) But you will need to wash them once in a while..germs and mold are a real possiblity. Hot water , rinse and dry.

What will need replacing is the filler inside the carts! You can rinse those under hot water and blot dry on a paper towel, restuff and drip with the liquid of your choice. But after about 3 to 5 cleanings they lose the ability to hold or soak up liquid..they also seem to shrink8-o

It is said that mold will grown on the filler after 4 to 5 days..so wash them!

When you decide to replace the filler, try:

Fluval, found in pet supply places, it's the filter material for fish tanks. Use the white one , not the charcoal. Cut to fit your cart.

Paper towels, also cut in strips rolled up to fit

teabags, empty of course, cut to fit and rolled up or shreaded.

Coffee filters, cut in strips rolled up to fit.

Check in the Tips & Tricks forum. And in Modders Forum under cartridge mods.
There are hundreds of posts about what to use to refill a cart!
There are also video how to's.

There are also things like the straw mod and the toothpick trick to optimize juice use.

I like to have at least 20 empty carts around. You will get 5 per device anyway but ordering more is always a good idea. They get lost, get overused and need attention and if you switch juices you will want a fresh cart. Plus I have several devices that all use 901 atty's and carts.

Avoid boiling as there is a rubber piece inside most carts to help prevent you getting a mouthful of juice and leakage. You are going to get it anyway..but after a while you learn to not over fill or draw so hard and it doesn't happen as often. You will be fine.

Hope this helped.
