For a 510 @ 6V (using the SB too) what I did was use a razor blade to cut off 2-3 + mm from the bottom. This will get rid of the potential meltage factor & you could put it on anyway. Also, with cutting more & more there wont be any wicking contact for whatever filler your using in your carts, but since dripping is THE way to go, particularly with 6V you don't even want any cart filler in there anyway.
Now if you wanna go crazy making the cart all it can be take a paperclip or safety pin (works a bit better) & poke it in the mouth hole & bend it up & out. There'll be another round disc, do the same to remove that one. It is between these two discs that fluid is pulled up a lot of times & is the cause for ALL fluid you have ever sucked into our mouth & a good deal of the time the gurgling sound you sometimes hear. Now, I suggest taking a drill bit that fits just about right, gripping the cart with a cloth & pliers in one hand & drilling out the plastic inside of the cart. You could then either leave it as is & just drip right through or (what I did) put the upper round disc, ie the first you removed with the safety pin, back. Simply remove & drip 2-3 drips for a 510 & your ready to go.
I haven't used a cart since I got my t-tips from superTmanufacturing.com (I think that's the site), but they're the bomb.
Good luck & forget about carts, at least not on 6V. Melting plastic not only tastes horrid but its worse for your lungs, etc.
