ATTENTION VAPERS (ESPECIALLY SOUTH CAROLNA) - A new bill is on the books (sponsored by RJ Reynolds) that would raise taxes in this states (and other adopting states) of a minimum of 0.05 Per ML of e-liquids in state tax - this is before any applied federal or state sales taxes.
This will also open the door for future e-cigarette taxes that we as vapers have absolutely NO representation in! Looking at how cigarette taxes have increased in the last 5 years - this is bad news for the industry - but great news from big tobacco companies like Phillip Morris, RJ Reynolds, and Lorillard.
As I read it, the tax on a ml is 28 times higher than the tax on other smokless productsi n the bill.
The CASAA call to action link is here: CASAA: Call to Action! South Carolina Bill to Tax E-Cigarettes And More -- H. 4074[1]
I urge all of you to read through this - call representatives, and participate in having this tax removed outright. These are not substantially e-quivalent to tobacco cigarettes, and should not be taxed as such.
Please phone the representatives supporting this bill and let them know that you oppose.
