I have donated and will donate more. I was thinking how many times we go to Walmart and Petsmart etc.. they ask for donations at the register. I would love to see our vendors get involved and add an option at checkout to donate even a dollar?? Im sure this would make an impact!! Though I dont know if that is too "in your face"??

CASAA has looked into that option, but it proves too difficult to monitor.

But that doesn't stop vendors from doing it on their own.
Which they should.

Here! Here!!

I havent donated yet because Im still waiting on my taxes. I will say this, I think a 1 dollar donation to CASAA is more worthwhile than donating to the presidential campaign fund like they ask on our tax forms.

Will be donating as soon as I get my refund check.

CASAA has an update on their page that reads as follows:

"We are truly excited by the support that this initiative has gotten in just two days! We are gratified to see the trust the community is placing in our judgment about how we, as a community, can best advance our cause."

Then it states that as of 2/13, they have received $3,280 in donations.

I guess I am glad that CASAA is "truly excited by the support," however, I am not. I really expected more peoples to donate. I've contacted 8 vendors and asked them to donate AND to please place an announcement on their website (like many did about the petition). Of course I don't know if the vendors have donated, but a few have put the announcement up on their site.

I would think that the vendors would make some "larger" contributions since it is their businesses at stake. Maybe I am just expecting too much from the vendors AND members here?

Considering the number of vapers in America
not to speak of the number of marketers ...
We should have hit $15K within 48 hours !!!

We should have hit 25K signatures on the petition
within 2-3 days instead of weeks.

Cute Funny YouTubes go viral overnight !!

Raises some serious concerns regarding our
movement being able to rally and support efforts
opposing the FDA on any level.

We often brag about our numbers and being a world-wide
movement ... However, we ain't organized.

I think it's doing pretty well, based on historical response (at least from my perspective). Having said that, I agree that with the size of our community, I would think it would be much higher than it is. I think there are many reasons for this:

  • not everyone logs in daily (or even weekly)
  • some are waiting for the next paycheck (or tax refund)
  • some think everyone else will contribute & take care of it
  • some are simply apathetic
  • some are just talkers and whine & complain but don't really do anything about it
  • something I haven't thought of...?

Whatever the reason, all we (who are concerned) can do is to keep doing our best to raise awareness, and hope for the best.

In the meantime, I've asked Phil Busardo if he'd be willing to mention it on his site and/or videos. That may help some too; we'll see! :)

1. The overwhelming vast majority of vapers are Not active members of the ECF.
2. Many marketers are probably not even aware of this fund drive.
3. To even suggest the active members ... who even know about this
have or will be contributing "something" is an illusion.

The e-cig community "at large" are not here on the ECF.

The overwhelming vast majority of those I've converted never even
surf the ECF .... I would assume since there are Millions of vapers now
in the US ... Many are not even aware of the ECF let alone surf the threads.

The most active forum on the ECF is now and has always been
the New Members forum. I wonder what percentage of new members
are aware of this project and its implications to the future of vaping.
We have Alerts ... but that doesn't mean everyone reads them and
are pro-active.

Sometimes I think we who are active here on the ECF just assume
all vapers and vendors are at least generally aware of what we know.

This is why we need to get the vendors involved, and why I started the following thread...

There are pros and cons from their point of view
of even alerting their clientele to what is going on.

I really don't think most vendors would be in favor of
informing (alarming) their clientele about possible limitations
in the near future.

To what benefit other than maybe "short term" is there for vendors to hide whats going on. We need support from everyone. If it hadnt been for the information i came across on this forum I wouldnt have had any idea as to the B.S that is going on. My response has been to join the fight. We need more of this! The more people that know, the more money generated, The bigger our "army". The more the merrier!! Vendors need to join on and support the cause or there will be no customers for them to serve.

Human Nature ...
The day after the FDA announces their 'Demon Regulations" ...
Many will interested in donating money to reverse history.
I certainly respect your opinion, though I dont agree. No time like the present. I would prefer to be proactive instead of reactive.

I was referring to Human Nature ...
"Most" really will not get motivated until after the fact

Pro-active people get involved immediately when they
see unfavorable clouds on the horizon.

I just listened to Dr. Carl Phillips of CASAA talking about this study on the VPLive Vape Team show...

I am very impressed by the ideas behind what they are trying to accomplish here.
This is going to be a very solid study whose results should be extremely helpful in the fight to advance electronic cigarettes.

I can't wait to get my tax refund so I can donate!

Thanks for mentioning the Dr Carl Phillips spot on Vape Team. I listened and I am excited as well. There seems to be a plan to get the most bang for the buck. Hopefully this will be money well spent! A good listen for anyone who wants some clarification about the study.
